Chapter 62 Waiting

The room was dimly lit, the curtains drawn to block out the morning sun. Rin sat at the edge of the bed, his fingers laced beneath his chin. Varros stood nearby, his expression grave.

"They've started moving," Varros said, voice low. "Your special forces are being hunted one by one. We've already lost four elite units in the past week. And… nobles. Several middle-tier families known to support you have been abducted. No demands, no trails."

Rin didn't respond immediately. His gaze was distant, but sharp. Each second passed like a blade grinding against stone.

"They're testing me, kaelion sure is fast, it has been a week since i returned." Rin finally muttered. "Trying to gauge whether I'll retaliate. If I let this pass, everyone who ever pledged loyalty to me will begin to question their choice."

Varros nodded. "Then what do you want to do?"

Rin slowly stood up, his white scales shimmering faintly in the dim light. "First, search for the abducted nobles. Use whatever resources we have, hounds, spies, anything. Next, I want Kaelion's men dead. Quietly. Assassinate a few key ones. Remind them who they're dealing with."

Varros's expression hardened with grim approval. "And you, Your Highness?"

Rin turned toward the large arched window, looking out at the capital's skyline. "I'll be unavailable for the next week. Tell everyone I'm breaking through. No one is to disturb me."

"Understood." Varros bowed. "With your bloodline, it'll be seen as natural. They'll spread the news like wildfire."

Rin gave him a nod, and once Varros left, the mask of composure Rin wore cracked, just a little.

He wasn't going to break through.

It was all a lie.

---

Later that evening, cloaked in the shadow of dusk, Rin stood inside his private chamber. He wore a black undersuit beneath the gleaming black armor gifted to him by the Crown Prince,an artifact of unmatched craftsmanship, capable of amplifying power by 10%. His wings were tucked in, his long white hair tied back tightly. In this armor, paired with his 59% blood purity, he could fight a general and walk away alive.

His pupils narrowed. Without a word, his form blurred, vanished. Using his invisibility technique, Rin slipped past the guards, out into the cold night air, and launched himself silently into the sky.

---

Over the next two days, Rin scouted from above, using aerial surveillance to track movement. The nobles that were abducted… weren't random. There was a pattern, each taken family was neither too high nor too low in status, middle-tier support that helped hold his influence together.

Three such families remained, all in the eastern region of the capital. They lived close to one another, like clustered pieces of bait.

Rin waited in silence.

He hovered high in the sky, cold wind whipping around him, his white scales nearly invisible against the clouds. He didn't move. He didn't blink. He waited.

Day one passed. Nothing.

Day two passed. Still nothing.

On the third day, Rin narrowed his eyes. Below him, a luxury transport vehicle had just pulled out of a noble estate. Inside was a man,Lord Dareth from House Alvoren, and his wife and two children. His estate was one of Rin's recent supporters.

Four figures moved in the shadows behind the vehicle. Two on foot. Two following on hovering bikes.

Rin's eyes glinted.

He muttered under his breath, "Finally."
