Forty Eight

Chapter Forty Eight

Jacob's POV

"How is she?"

I asked Cidrey to come in my house and report to me directly from here. There is no way I'd want to leave this place. Going out and losing Lucianna's scent, terrifies me.

So now, we are here at my home office to discuss how his tracking task of Lucianna came about.

"She is well, Alpha Jacob. Currently, she's staying at--"

"Stop." I held my hand up and sigh. "Remember to never mention the place she resides during this discussion."

Because I might break my promise and follow her. Lucianna won't like that, I know.

Cidrey, the Head of Trackers, looked confused.

"Just for this discussion, Alpha Jacob?"

"No. Not until I asked." I said with a hiss.

Somehow, talking with someone who know my mate's whereabouts makes me itch and uneasy but I tried my best not to ask.

Cidrey nodded slowly.

"Okay. Uh, L-Luna Lucianna has settled at--I mean--she settled well. And f-for the bed, I think… the size is enough for her."

"How enough is it? How many people may lay on it?"

Cidrey looked sideways, unsure of what his answer would be.

"I think, two, Alpha Jacob."

I hissed and shook my head slowly. "Do something to change it into a single bed."

"Is it okay to approach directly--"

"Without being noticed, Cidrey."

"Oh." Cidrey nodded furiously.

"What else have you found?" I'm getting impatient, damn it.

I saw Cidrey shift on his seat and fidgeted like he was suddenly uncomfortable. The hell did this guy find out?

"A-Actually, th-there's a man with her, Alpha Jacob…"

I froze. My jaw clenching as images of my mate with another man came into mind.

"Who?"

"I d-don't know his identity yet but I'm looking on it, Alpha."

Damn it.

I massaged the bridge of my nose, closing my eyes shut to relax my veins. I think I'll shift any moment now.

"What's his pack scent?"

"He is from the East region, but the exact pack is still unknown."

East region? How did Lucianna bump into some man from the East?!

"Report to me once you find out about that man. What do you think is their relation with each other?"

Cidrey paled which irritated me more than I already am. My jaw clenches hard that I think my teeth will shatter any moment.

"Tell me in details, Cidrey."

I don't want to think ill of the situation but upon my council's expression, I have no thoughts but negativity.

"They live in the same roof, my Alpha." he bowed a little, ready to witness my outrage.

Living together?! Lucianna is living with a man? Did she left me to cheat on me?!

Wait, no. No. I would have feel it if she tries to.

With all my will, I tried my best to calm down but my inner system continuous its chaos. I think I'm going crazy and fuck it! I don't want her be with that man!

"TELL ME WHERE SHE IS---" I cut my sentence when her words slapped my mind, reminding our deal to me.

Cidrey looked puzzled, unsure if he should answer me or not so I shook my head at him and waved my hand, urging him to exit the room.

"Proceed with spying in the dark and don't forget to do what I asked you to."

Cidrey nodded, bowed after and then strode out of my office.

Goddammit. I'm losing my head with all those information! Lucianna with a man?! Fuck! I'm being haunted with inappropriate thoughts and I know these will be my nightmare for the coming days.

'Mate is not like that!' my wolf growled at me.

Yes. Yes, of course I believe that. Lucianna won't… do that to me. But still, I can't stop the thoughts. It's flowing in my head, nonstop, and successfully inflicting pain in my fucking chest!

Brent's POV

It is getting worst. I think a week has passed since Jacob stopped attending to his role and even though I understand half of his reason, I can't accept it fully!

There are piles of papers that needed his signature. And some of it are days due! I can't let him lock himself inside that house and be busy growing his beard!

That early morning, I went to the office and gathered the papers which needed his signature. I'll bring this to Jacob if he really won't come here and--

"What are you doing in here?"

The moment I opened the door of the Hall Office, I saw Roscoe sitting on Jacob's chair and looking at the papers in his hand.

He looked up to me, not even shocked of my arrival.

"Just having a tour…" Roscoe grinned.

This damned bastard is so obvious of having an interest to the Alpha title. Can't he just be happy for his brother? Can't he stop and accept defeat, or at least reflect on his actions?

Damn him.

"This is not the spot for a tourist." I said calm but not hiding the sarcasm.

Roscoe laughed hard. I can't deemed to see the sense of what he was laughing about but then I realized that my thoughts may mirrored my words well.

I sighed.

I shouldn't let myself be affected by this scenes continuously.

"You're so stiff, Brent. I'm just paying a visit for my brother but it seems he's… not here." he smirked. "Well, I'll come back some other time."

I watched him stood up, take his coat and walked to where I stand.

"If he will ever come back here."

The parting words he left made a huge puzzle in my head. That surely meant something and I don't know if it could be a danger for Jacob's life again or just a mocking sarcasm.

Harley came running after I finished organizing the papers that needed Jacob's signature. The Gamma strode inside the office like someone was running after him!

"Brent! Brent!"

I raised my brow and watched him catch his breath. "What's wrong?"

"I heard something about Lucianna!"

My back straightened. "What is it?"

"There will be a tournament for female fighters and she signed up for it!"

I've been trying to get in contact with our Luna. She needed to be here but she is not. At least a talk with her might make me understand some blocked points in this situation.

Jacob has direct command to the tracker shifters that no one will be allowed to find Lucianna except him. I think it is his way to forbid knowledge of her location towards Roscoe, or more that I may not know.

"Where?" I asked, giving my full attention to him.

"It's in the East where she won before. The tournament will be held three days from now, and I think I should head there now so I can reach on time!"

The east region is far and Harley is right. If he won't move by now, travelling by land won't make him on time.

"Do that."

"Okay! Are you gonna tell Jacob about this?"

There is that option that I can always deny to choose but I think…

"Yeah. Let's see what he will do, then."
