Chapter 1: Lords (rewritten)
At some back alley in River City.
A fight came to an end with one man winning over the group of four underlings of some gang.
Liam stood over the others as they rolled on the ground in pain, beaten.
Liam, do you still think you can get away this time? Then you're dreaming. This time you have hurt the boss of the Bull Gang.
Liam, you're finished this time.
Said the man as he glared at Liam.
Liam's grin has gotten wider.
Do you think that I'm afraid of some bull gang?
He wiped blood from his lips and exited the alley.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the vast universe.
It's time for the next game to begin! This time I found a unique world. I expect beings from that world can provide some surprises.
On earth, suddenly a voice echoed.
"Congratulations! World number 21717398309 (EARTH) has been chosen."
Before anyone could think of what that voice was, they all teleported off the world.

Soon Liam found himself passed out on the ground; his head was still dizzy.
"Where am I? What is this place?" he murmured in confusion
As he was wondering how he got here, a mechanical voice with no emotions rang throughout the whole world with power.
Welcome, Lords
"What...?" Liam muttered,
Congratulations, lords, you have been chosen by the Supreme Being for the competition to determine an overlord, who rules over all.
[Those chosen by the Supreme being shall bear the title of Lord and compete to rule over the this unclaimed world.]
The world has been ruled by the demon beasts, which are classified into ranks based on their strength, from D to SSS.
For the safety of the lord, the world was divided into regions; they are as follows: barren lands, outer region, inner region, and core region. Every lord is located in barren lands, where the highest-ranked beasts are B rank. And every lord will be provided with a lord's mansion, a Summoning Gate, and a protective shield lasting for three days.
All lords will awaken their Lord Talent, granting them extraordinary abilities to build your territory in these unclaimed lands. This world can belong to any one of you!
"What? A contest to become overlord?" Liam pondered.
Still trying to make sense of it all.

"A system? Did I get a system too?" Liam wondered.
[Ding!] Yes, to help the Lord adapt quickly, the Supreme Being has gifted a system to each Lord.
"It seems like I am not the only one that has received the system. thought I had gotten the cheat and my days as a protagonist had begun."
"System, what are your features?" Liam asked.
[Ding!] "Systems" are designed to help lords grow their territories quickly.

Inventory: A space provided by the system to store items and resources for the Lords.
Lord's shop: a system store where lords can use their lord coins to buy resources, weapons, and items that can be used for growing the territory.
Territory info: The system will provide basic or detailed information about the lord's territory at all times.
System assistants: this function enables the AI in the system to help lords with their inquiries.
"Status," whispered Liam quietly.
A system interface appeared showing Liam's status.

"System, what does 'unique' mean, and how does my talent affect things?" Liam asked.

There are four categories for talents: Common, Extra, Unique, and Ultimate. Additionally, unique-ranked talent indicates that there is only one of that kind in the world.

"Hm, it seems like the Novice Gift Pack isn't much, just basic resources to get started," Liam thought.
His eyes then fell on a simple structure nearby.

Description: A place where the Lord and his trustworthy subjects reside, as well as a gathering place for important discussions and choices.

Description: A special building granted by the Supreme Being to the Lords, allowing them to summon 10 subjects each day.

"But first, I need to summon subjects and build my strength in the next three days."
"Summon," Liam said as he stood in front of the Summoning Gate.
