[Harry Potter POV]
Sigh~
I sighed for what seemed to be the thousandth time today. I had finally put Elizabeth back to sleep again after changing and feeding her—I really should have thought this thing through because, let me tell you, taking care of a baby is hard even with magic. If you're not willing to magically put them to sleep, then you don't really have any advantage against ordinary people.
It had been about a week since I got her, and that was the last time I actually got any sleep. I spent most of the week either meditating, researching, or taking care of her.
It was exhausting…
Nevertheless, I had actually made some progress with my magical study, especially after I started to slowly download the knowledge I had inside my Grimoire directly into my mind. Things just started to click for me.
I knew that wizarding magic was connected one way or another; I just didn't see the connection clearly until yesterday when I finished downloading everything about said magic into my mind—that was when I reached a sudden enlightenment where subjects like potion-making, astrology, charms, runic studies, herbology, alchemy, arithmancy, and even divination started to look like a tightly-knit web where every subject is connected to another in more than one way…
At first glance, it looked so simple, yet it requires someone to actually have the talent to see said connections—it's become so much easier to modify and create new spells, potions, runic formations, etc.… reducing the time I needed to finish the next deal faster. Now I just needed information about herbology and plant properties in this world and tada~ new potions.
'I still can't believe how easily Sairaorg actually agreed to the second deal. Is he really a devil?' I thought as I remembered how the deal happened…
-Flashback-
I had just finished converting the basement of Sairaorg's villa into a gravity chamber, which had made me spend about 90% of my magic reserve three times in a row in the two hours I had been there.
The first was when I converted the material Sairaorg got into a new insulator I created using alchemy—that way, the gravity fluctuations wouldn't affect the outside world. The alchemical circle took 90% of my magic just to convert these materials…
"Harry!!!" Sairaorg's booming voice came while I was resting. Turning my head to the side, I saw him coming my way with Elizabeth sleeping soundly in his hands, followed by his pawn—Regulus—who looked like a short teenager with dark orange hair and golden eyes…
"Here." I extended my hands in a gesture for him to hand over my daughter, which he did. "So what do you want? As you can see, I am still resting after finishing the first step," I asked while double-checking on my daughter, just to be safe…
"Ah, right, I was just wondering what that black gooey thing in the middle is…" he asked while pointing at the recently converted insulator—though he seemed to have wanted to ask about something else.
"That is the material that will be infused into your basement next to make sure that your playing with gravity in here doesn't affect the area around your mansion," I replied, making yet-to-speak Regulus open his mouth.
"How did you do it? That's not magic I am familiar with."
"I created the formula for the material and converted existing ones into it using alchemy," I answered, stunning the short teenager with my answer—it wasn't like it was a secret art or something…
"That's not how alchemy works…" the Nemean Lion mumbled as he took another look at the material—I couldn't say I blamed him. Alchemy in this world was more of a potion-making art and science than actual genuine alchemy, although this gave me an idea.
"True, it's not your usual alchemy. This is a unique alchemy branch I came up with to help me create potions and materials I need to speed up my training time, especially now with my limited time thanks to this little gremlin right here." I said while touching my daughter's little nose, not forgetting to dangle the premise of a new type of potion that helped speed up training speed—which Sairaorg caught immediately.
"A new potion?" he asked excitedly. "Tell me more!!!"
"Well, it's still an idea right now, but with a bit of research, I can come up with a potion that helps with body and magic recovery, thus speeding up the time one needs to recover after extensive training."
"How sure are you that this is going to work?"
"About as sure as I was when I said I'd create a gravity chamber," I answered as I stood up, my magic almost fully recovered now…
A huge alchemical magic circle appeared under my feet, making Sairaorg—who was still thinking about what I just said—and Regulus jump up. I gestured for them to leave the circle perimeter, which they did.
I slowly expanded the circle to include the whole basement as I started to alter the very foundation, walls, and ceiling of the basement by infusing them with the gravity insulator…
This took about 70% of my magic. I then used the leftovers to infuse the wooden door they had prepared and alter it into an iron one that was designed in a way that would piss off Kuisha—not out of malice or anything but just because I know this would annoy her…
I sat down to rest again after that, only to hear the door squeak a little as it opened.
'I need to change the sound of the door later…'
"Is it ready yet?" Sairaorg was instantly by my side, making me thank God for casting a noise-muffler spell around Elizabeth…
"Almost. Now I just need to inscribe the arrays, formations, and magic circles inside, and that's it."
"Ok, good, good," he mumbled, then perked up and looked at me with a bright smile and said, "Hey Harry, how about you become my contracted magician?"
I frowned a little as I looked at him. I didn't actually know what that entailed exactly; all I knew was that magicians in this world did it to further their research. "Hmmm, I don't actually know what that entails, so I'd refuse for now. If you need something, we can just make the usual deal."
"That reminds me—I need you to find a way to supply me with at least fifty to sixty bottles of devil breast milk per week for Elizabeth and books on herbology, potions, common ingredients, and other things." I continued after a small pause.
"Easy enough, but in return, I will need you to supply me with that training potion you told me about earlier," Sairaorg replied with his hand on his chin, as if he was thinking…
"Consider it done, although how long it takes depends on how long I wait for the books and ingredients…" I told him and received a nod in return…
The next hour and a half after that was spent adding the finishing touches to the design, installing the wards, circles, formations, etc…and let's not forget teaching him how to use it, how the zones inside the chamber were divided…
—Flashback End—
And that was how I scammed Sairaorg into another deal—although now that I think about it, I was the one getting scammed here, wasn't I?
Eh, it didn't matter…
Other than that, nothing eventful happened this week, other than the fact that I enslaved a female vampire and asked her to be the breast milk supplier for me for a whole year in return for her freedom—still, the word 'enslaved' is an ugly term, so let's call it a forced employment' for now.
It's not like I am morally burdened by the term or the action either way— The woman was one of those extreme feminist vampire faction that believes males only exist for their entertainment and satisfying their sick pleasures—which I personally found disturbing.
I found her when I went on a run for diapers and other necessities a couple of days ago—the fact that this run took me to their territory was just a nice coincidence… right?
' at least now I have a regular supply of food for my daughter and that's what really matters'
