Chapter Twenty-Two: Getting to Know Her One True Love Part Two

Biltmore Estate Gardens, 1907

Lyanna began to explain. "You see when I was born. I was born on December 18, 1993. That place is eighty-six years into the future. The room I was in was known as a neonatal care unit. The neonatal care unit serves as a place where doctors monitor and care for babies, ensuring their recovery after a difficult birth or other complications. I was there for a few days until I could breathe on my own and to make sure there weren't any other complications from my birth.

Lyanna saw a strange look on William's face. It was a mixture of confusion and concern, as if he were grappling with a reality he couldn't quite comprehend. "What's wrong?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

William shook his head slightly, as if trying to clear his thoughts. "It's just... you mentioned December 18, 1993," he said slowly. "That place is eighty-six years into the future. How is that even possible?"

Lyanna took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "The Biltmore Estate pond is not just a serene spot for reflection," she began, her eyes glimmering with a mix of excitement and seriousness. "It's said to be a time portal, a gateway that connects our world to different points in the timeline."

William's confusion deepened as he listened. "A time portal? How's that possible?"

Lyanna is being truthful with William. "Honestly, I don't know. But I know this."

William then says, "What's that?" Aroused, he leaned in closer, eager to hear more.

Lyanna took a deep breath, her expression serious. " I am grateful every day that the pond brought me to you."

William nodded, feeling a sense of connection to Lyanna's words. "I agree," he said thoughtfully.

Lyanna then asked William, "Do you believe me?" She looked into his eyes, searching for any hint of doubt.

William met her gaze, his expression earnest. "I believe you," he replied sincerely. The weight of her words hung in the air between them, and he could sense the depth of her feelings. "It's not just about the pond," he continued, "but about what we've discovered in each other."

Lyanna's demeanor softened, and she smiled faintly, reassured by his response. "I'm glad to hear that," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "It means a lot to me." William reached out, gently taking her hand, solidifying their bond as they both contemplated the significance of their connection.

William turned to Lyanna, curiosity evident in his eyes. "When did you start having dreams about me?" he asked softly, wanting to understand the depth of her feelings.

Lyanna took a deep breath, her gaze drifting to the ground as memories flooded her mind. "I've had dreams about you since I was three years old," she confessed, a hint of nostalgia in her voice. "Back then, they were just fleeting images—glimpses of a boy who felt like a part of me, even though I didn't fully understand it."

William's eyes widened in surprise, the weight of her words hanging in the air between them. "Three? "That's incredible," he replied, a mix of awe and curiosity in his tone. "What were those dreams like?"

She looked back at him, her expression softening. "They were always filled with warmth and laughter. You were always there, guiding me through different adventures, even in my wildest imaginings." A small smile crept onto her lips as she recalled the innocence of her childhood dreams. "But there was one dream that I remember."

William leaned in slightly, his interest piqued. "What dream was that?" he asked, eager to hear more.

She took a deep breath, her gaze drifting as if she were pulling the memory from the depths of her mind. "My first dream of you was when you met your adoptive mom as a boy."

William remembered and then said. "That was definitely one of the most stressful and most nervous times in my life, that's for sure."

Lyanna nodded, her expression thoughtful. "I can imagine. Meeting someone who would change your life must have been overwhelming. It's wonderful how those moments stick with us, isn't it?" She leaned in a bit closer, her curiosity evident. "It's like they shape who we become."

William nodded in agreement, his memories flooding back. "Absolutely, Lyanna. Those moments really do have a profound impact on us. Meeting her was like stepping into a whole new world, filled with possibilities. It's wonderful how a single encounter can influence our path and shape our identity." He paused, reflecting on their conversation. "You're right; it's those experiences that define us and guide our choices moving forward."

Lyanna nodded her head in agreement.

William then asked. "If you don't mind me asking, what made you jump into the pond?" "Did you know that the pond could time travel?"

Lyanna looked at William with wide eyes, her surprise evident. "I had no idea the pond could time travel," she admitted, her voice tinged with wonder. Then she said, "Someone pushed me from behind, and that's how I ended up in the pond."

William raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her story. "Pushed you? Do you know who it was?" he asked, leaning in closer, eager to hear more about the mysterious circumstances that had led to this unexpected adventure.

Lyanna shook her head, her brow furrowing in confusion. "No, I have no idea who pushed me into the pond," she replied, her voice still laced with disbelief. "One moment I was standing there, and the next I was falling into the water."

William's curiosity deepened as he observed the mix of excitement and uncertainty on her face. "That's quite the experience," he said thoughtfully. "Do you think it was an accident, or could it have been intentional?"

Lyanna was being truthful. "I honestly don't know. But I am grateful that it happened to me."

"Grateful? For falling into the water?" William raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her perspective. "What about it makes you feel that way?"

Lyanna smiled softly, her eyes reflecting a mix of nostalgia and warmth. "I feel that way because I got to meet you," she replied, her voice steady. "If I hadn't fallen in, we might never have crossed paths. It sounds silly, but occasionally the unexpected moments lead to the best things in life."

William considered her words, feeling a spark of connection. "I suppose that's true," he said, nodding thoughtfully. "Sometimes the best experiences come from the most unlikely situations."

Lyanna nodded her head in agreement.

William asked her, "Shall we go back inside?"

Lyanna smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yes, let's," she replied, turning toward the entrance. "I could use a warm drink after that little adventure."

William nodded in agreement and said, "Agree."

Then the both of them made their way back inside.
