Chapter Twenty-Three: The Winter Solstice Ball Part Four

Biltmore Estate Ballroom, 1907

Edith approached George with a hopeful expression, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Do you think it would be possible to arrange for lady companions for Lyanna?" she asked, her voice filled with anticipation. "I believe it would greatly enhance her enjoyment of the festivities."

George considered her request thoughtfully. "It's an intriguing idea, Edith. Lyanna would certainly benefit from the company, especially during such a grand occasion." He glanced around the ornate ballroom, where guests in elegant attire mingled and laughed, the atmosphere alive with the spirit of celebration.

"Perhaps we could invite a few of her friends from the neighboring estates," Edith suggested, her mind racing with possibilities. "It would be a delightful surprise for her."

George nodded, intrigued. "Let's make a list of suitable companions. I agree that making a list of suitable companions would make Lyanna's stay even more memorable. Why don't we talk to some of the families about it?" He leaned in closer, eager to hear Edith's thoughts on who might be the best choices for the gathering.

After a moment of contemplation, he leaned in even closer and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips, a gesture of affection that solidified their shared excitement for the plans ahead.

George then asked his wife, "Shall we join the party?"

Edith smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Absolutely," she replied, her voice filled with enthusiasm as she took George's hand, ready to dive into the festivities.

Then George and Edith rejoin the party.

The other side of the ballroom is where Gevherriz, Şadiye, Luthor, and Joren are located.

As Joren continued to search the bustling ballroom, he turned to his companions. "Hey, does anyone know where William and Lyanna are?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

Gevherriz shrugged, glancing around the room as well. Şadiye, shaking her head, replied, "I have no idea where they went."

Luthor and Joren exchanged puzzled looks, both eager to find their friends amidst the lively festivities. The music played on, and the laughter of ball guests filled the air, but the absence of William and Lyanna left a space in their group.

Şadiye then says, "I think I saw them head towards where the fire pits are set up outside."

Luthor spotted William and Lyanna walking towards them, their laughter carrying over the sounds of the lively festivities. He nudged Joren, who looked up with a smile. "There they are!" Luthor exclaimed, relief washing over him. The music swelled, and the vibrant atmosphere seemed to brighten at the sight of their friends.

Gevherriz turned to William and Lyanna as they approached, a grin spreading across his face. "You two had us worried! We were starting to think you got lost in the crowd," she said, gesturing to the lively festivities around them. "Şadiye mentioned she saw you heading toward the fire pits. We were just about to come looking for you!"

Luthor chimed in, still smiling. "It's wonderful to see you both! The party feels even more lively now that you're here." The music played on, and the warmth of friendship filled the air.

William smiled at his friends, grateful for their concern. "Sorry for making you worry! Lyanna and I just stepped outside to get some fresh air," he explained, glancing over at her as she nodded in agreement. "The festivities are amazing, but we needed a little break from the crowd."

Luthor chuckled, "Well, we're glad you found your way back!" It really is a wonderful party, and it wouldn't be the same without you two."

Lyanna grinned, "Thanks, Luthor!" We're happy to be here. Let's enjoy the rest of the night together." The music played on, and the warmth of friendship filled the air.

Joren approached William and Lyanna, curiosity evident in his expression.

"Hey, what were you two talking about outside?" he asked.

William exchanged a glance with Lyanna before answering. "We were just taking a moment to appreciate the festivities and catch our breath from the crowd," he replied.

Lyanna added, "It's been such a lively party, but occasionally it's nice to step away and enjoy a quiet moment together."

Joren smiled, "I thoroughly understand. It really is a wonderful night. I'm glad you both are here to share it!"

"There's something magical about nights like these," he continued, looking out at the twinkling lights strung above them. "It's moments like this that remind us to pause and cherish the company of good friends."

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

The group fell into a contemplative silence, each person reflecting on the importance of connection and the joy of being present. The twinkling lights above seemed to shimmer with a newfound significance, casting a gentle glow on their gathering.

Then a thought came to William. He glanced around at the laughter and joy surrounding him, feeling a warmth in his heart.

William suggested, "Why don't we head to the kitchen and grab some food?"

The others nodded in agreement, their stomachs rumbling in anticipation. As they made their way to the kitchen, the laughter and chatter from the party faded into a lively backdrop, creating a perfect atmosphere for their little adventure.
