When he finally gets his shot to enter the Beast Domain upon turning sixteen, he jumps at the opportunity to finally make something of himself — to carve out his own future.

His goal? Survive. Hunt. Earn enough money to finally support his little sister back home and bring them out of poverty.

But to a naïve young boy like Nick, the world is far more sinister than it seems — leaving him no choice but to adapt, or die.

Nick had only just managed to muster up the courage to face Mutant Beasts. Radiant Beasts were still out of the question for him, and with the news that Star Rank beasts might exist in the first layer too? He wouldn't even entertain the thought of going out to try and hunt one with his puny amount of strength.

He might have found out that he was stronger than he'd thought, but he wasn't stupid enough to let his ego lead him blindly into death.

And he wouldn't even entertain doing the same thing he'd done with Dido and Beast Slayer.

Even if Dido offered her entire fortune to him, he'd never be bait for a raid on a Star Rank beast.

Nobody in the upper layers had ever managed to even kill one, let alone kill steal one…

He had no reason to believe that he was special and things would be different for him.
