Four months pregnant, my Alpha Kaelen’s obsession Lyra, had to know who he cared about more – me or her.
So, up on the snowy mountain, she howled, started a snow-beast stampede, caused an avalanche.
She smirked, watching me, expecting me to hit Kaelen’s comm rune.
I didn't. I just wrapped my furs tighter, tried to stay warm, and waited.
Because last time, when the avalanche hit, I’d called him right away, begging him to get me to a healer.
He’d saved me for the pup’s sake, got me to the pack healers. But Lyra? She "accidentally" died up there because Kaelen didn't come for her.

"If you hadn't distracted me, Lyra would still be alive! Think you can play innocent and fool me? You and your whelp will pay for her life!"
"Cold? Good! I want you to feel exactly what Lyra felt before she died!"
Then I woke up. Back at the avalanche.

I lowered my head and pressed the comm rune connecting me to the enforcers, whispering,


The next second, the enforcer warriors burst through the crowd, surrounding the bride and groom.


Kaelen frowned, not understanding what was happening. His Alpha dominance flared instantly, trying to intimidate the intruders.


A flicker of panic crossed Lyra’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by shock.


As the guests stared at each other in confusion, the enforcer captain held up the Elder Council’s arrest warrant.


"Lady Lyra, this unit is arresting you for deliberately endangering the pack and attempted murder (against Seraphina and her pup). Please cooperate with our work."


"Alpha Kaelen, you are charged with disrupting pack order, intentionally injuring a wolf causing serious harm, and dereliction of duty. Please also cooperate fully."


Kaelen was stunned by the string of accusations. In his panic, his eyes met mine in the crowd below.
