Chapter 7

The incident in Lucas's room must have caused a bad impression on the department. Now that the director was summoning her, she could only quickly agree and follow Dr. Finch into his office.

She had expected Dr. Finch to severely criticize her for disrupting order once they were in his office.

But the director's first words carried a subtle tone of pain and concern.

"Evie, I brought you up myself. Your skills were taught by me, step by step."

"Because of that surgery years ago, my relationship with your Reed family, well, we go way back, so to speak."

Evie, due to her family's urging, deeply respected this top surgeon who had saved her life back then.

She aspired to be like Dr. Finch, using her own hands to save those who deserved a new life.

Dr. Finch gently patted her shoulder, his eyes complex.
