After running for some time, he finally reached the cave, yes, the same cave where he had once undergone a trial. But this time… he had come here for a completely different reason.
Now, he could see the entrance of the cave. But just as he got close to it, his eyes fell upon something. There was the wolf statue, standing tall and silent. But just below it… a wolf cub.
The little thing was trembling, its legs shaking uncontrollably. Its eyes were red, and its fur was snowy white, spreading from its forehead down to its tail. It looked utterly pitiful in this state, quivering beneath the cold shadow of the statue.
Seeing this, I stepped forward and gently scooped the little cub into my arms. As I held it close, I noticed, this was a female cub. Still very small… likely only a few months old. Yet somehow, she had already reached the Alpha level. And here she was, sitting right in front of the cave that led to the trial grounds.
I picked her up in my arms, and the moment I did, the trembling stopped. She curled softly against my chest as I tugged her toward my chest, giving her some warmth from my body. The cub relaxed completely, and within moments, she fell asleep in my arms.
Seeing this, I simply shook my head and continued on, heading deeper inside the cave to meet the guardian of the trial.
It wasn't long before I reached the chamber. There, standing and waiting for me, was the massive white-furred wolf. As soon as he saw me, his eyes lit up.
He waved his massive paws in the air and shouted in an excited, almost frantic tone, "Come here! Come here fast, fast! There is something for you!"
Seeing him so eager, I walked up to him and raised an eyebrow. "What's gotten into you? You look very excited."
He didn't even respond to me directly. Without even looking back, he turned and started walking deeper into the cave.
"Of course I'm excited!" he barked back.
I simply nodded. After all, I had received a divine message from the Wolf God not long ago… There was only one reason he'd summon me like this, either to give me something… or to descend into this world for a reason tied to me.
Soon, we reached a clearing , yes, the same clearing where the statue of the Wolf God stood. I could still see the deep cracks in it, left behind from the last time the god had descended.
We came to a stop, standing silently in front of that cracked statue.
Confusion filled my eyes. "Now what?" I muttered, turning to glance at the guardian wolf. He still looked absurdly excited for some reason.
Just as I was about to ask him what would happen next…
The world around me cracked.
Yes, ...the whole f**king world cracked, like a spiderweb splitting across glass. I could see something beyond those cracks, something distant and divine. But the moment I tried to focus on it.....
Darkness.
I collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.
When I opened my eyes, everything had changed.
I was… in a white space.
All around me, as far as my eyes could see, there was nothing but white. Endless, infinite white stretching into the horizon. There was no floor, no ceiling, only light.
Then… I heard something.
A faint laugh.
At first, it was quiet, almost like a whisper. But it grew louder. Deeper. Stronger. Now it echoed all around me, shaking the very space I stood in.
Then a voice spoke.
"Yo hooooooo hooo! My lad, you really are something else!"
It was rich and thunderous, yet playful.
"I just gave you the power to turn into a human, and then a werewolf, with just a flick of my will. I had no intention of giving you any special treatment. Not at all. this power was just a simple thing for me to do"
His voice dropped slightly, tinged with amazement.
"But what you did with that power… shocked the f**k out of me. Now all the gods of the human domain are in front of my house, demanding answers! Asking what happened, and even calling for me to bring you to their doorstep… so they can kill you."
Hearing this, a chill ran down my spine. Cold sweat prickled at my skin.
If the Wolf God wanted to kill me..., and judging by the way he summoned me here without explanation....it might just be to satisfy those human gods.
Thoughts swirled in my head, fear bubbling at the edge of my mind.
But in that moment, a single realization struck me.
So what… if he kills me?
Or even takes back the werewolf powers?
It doesn't matter.
I understood something, deep in my bones, the powers of the werewolf were never mine to begin with. They had always belonged to this Wolf God.
They were his.
And I had done with them what I could… but I was just a vessel.
There was nothing I could do to change this now.
So I looked into the white void, calm despite everything, and said in a clear voice:
"So… do you want to kill me? To satisfy the human gods?"
In response, the Wolf God just laughed. A booming, amused laugh that rolled across the white landscape like thunder.
And after a few moments, he finally answered:
"There's one thing I'll tell you, kiddo… I am a god. The god of wolves. And right now, you are in my mansion."
"I didn't descend to the mortal world.....no. I brought you here, from the mortal world into mine. Right now, all you see is white, because only your soul is here, not your full body. Your real body is still lying in the ground in the trial cave."
"And yes… the gods of the human domain are restless. But they can't do anything—to me or to you."
"And of course," his voice softened, "I would never try to kill you."
"Because you… are a god as well."
"Do you really think just any mortal can step into the realm of gods?"
"But you did."
Hearing those words...I am a god as well...my mind stilled.
What the hell, dude.
Why so many mysteries?
Why not just say what you want to say and let me go back to where I came from?
I sighed inwardly, thinking to myself, Just get to the point already, you divine bastard…
