Two Heroes, "Changes"

Melissa hauls Izuku to a tech booth, practically bouncing as she shows off a slew of gadgets - hovering drones, high-tech and fancy tools, straight out of a sci-fi wet dream.

He's in heaven, eyes darting, muttering a mile a minute. "This is incredible—what's that one do? Oh, and that... Wait, is that a power amplifier?"

Melissa grins, handing him a sleek device. "Try it. It boosts muscle strength and reduced physical expenditure for testing. My dad's team made this."

They're deep in it when Izuku slows, voice softening. "Your dad's amazing. What's it like... growing up with someone like that?"

Melissa's smile turns wistful, her fingers tracing the edge of a display. "He's… everything I wanna be. I'm a third-year at I-Island Academy now, studying to be a scientist like him. It's tough, but I've always dreamed of making stuff that changes lives, you know?"

Izuku nods, eyes bright. "I get it. I wanna be a hero like All Might, become someone people look up to. We're kinda the same, huh?"

"Yeah, guess we are." She laughs softly. "But... it seems like you really idolize Uncle Might, huh? I was quite surprised to see your enthusiasm just now."

Then, like a storm rolling in, Uraraka Ochako, Yaoyorozu Momo, and Jiro Kyoka appeared in a way that could not be more surprising into the scene. Ochako's leading the charge, arms crossed, staring daggers at Izuku and Melissa.

"You look so happy, Deku… Who's this?" she asks with a tight voice, a little too casual and full of tension, contained in a slight smile - something extremely dangerous if not recognized early.

Kyoka smirks, earjack swaying. "Looks cozy over here. And... wait, Ryuga, you and… you-again? What's this, a double date?"

Momo's quieter, but her raised brow says plenty.

I catch Ochako's face - way stormier than the movie ever hinted.

It seemed that something - perhaps extremely level-up about their relationship - had happened to them during those study sessions together before final exams...

Fuck it, she's deep into Izuku, deeper than I can ever imagine. This could blow up.

"Damn it Izuku, quickly deal with this misunderstanding or we'll be in trouble now!!!!!" I shoot Izuku a look full of concern.

He catches the SOS, flailing into damage control. "N-No, no, it's not like that! There seems to be some misunderstanding here, but actually Melissa's just showing me around the I-Expo, and she's an I-Island student, that's all! Nothing's going on, I swear!" His voice cracks, hands waving like he's dodging bullets.

Melissa blinks, startled, then jumps in, all chill. "Yeah, this is just a tour guide. No big deal."

Ochako's glare softens, but her jaw's still clenched - jealousy simmering low...

I step up, voice lazy but firm. "Relax, Just me and Himiko are dating here, not them." As I said that, I hugged her waist - in my form - for added effect. "I testify, if you don't believe me just ask her."

I catch the blush on her cheeks, and Ochako looks away, huffing. Jiro snorts, grinning like she just scored gold. Momo sighs, shaking her head, but her lips twitch.

Izuku lets out a long breath, eyes darting between Ochako and Melissa like he wants to say something but can't find any word at all...

A few beats of awkward silence pass, broken by Melissa's light laugh. "Well, since everyone's here, why don't we go get something to drink?" she asks, gesturing to the expo floor. We all nod, relief flooding the air.

Uh... Nah, actually Izuku seemed even more nervous than before...

...

"So... you have experience working with pro heroes?"

"It was just an internship..." Ochako waved her hand lightly in denial with a face that seemed to have calmed down...

"I also participated in a big case, but all I did was evacuate the people..." Kyoka added right after Ochako finished speaking.

"For some reason... I ended up doing a commercial..." Momo lamented with a slight blush at the topic...

"Isn't that great?" Melissa replied with admiration.

"At least you guys get to do an internship. I had to miss my internship at my old school due to health reasons..." Himiko - still in my appearance - said with a bored expression.

"..."

And then, the girls continued chatting amongst themselves, leaving me and Izuku - who was now breathing a sigh of relief after almost getting into such a big trouble. Look at him, his face is so calm and relieved...

Well, at least in a way, Himiko was able to blend in with them like any other normal girl, even if she had to bullshit a bit about why her internship was late. But letting her have these normal moments made me quite happy...

"Sorry for the wait..." A familiar voice rang out, followed by two glasses of iced blueberry lemonade with lemons decorated in the shape of All Might's hair floating on the surface placed in front of us.

"This voice is... Kaminari!? And... Mineta!? What are you two doing here?!"

"They need staff for the exhibition, right?" Kaminari said calmly to Midoriya, then turning to Mineta.

"During the break, we can visit the exhibition and get paid..." Mineta continued with excitement. "Plus, we can freely look at the beautiful girls here!"

With that, he and Kaminari glanced around at the girls sitting at the next table, immediately attracted by Melissa's beauty. And yeah, of course, those two girls-lovers immediately pulled Izuku aside for the sole purpose of asking him to introduce Melissa to them.

"If you want her contact information, just ask, Izuku's not good at it..." I looked at the two of them with a judgmental gaze, conveniently taking a sip of my blueberry lemonade. "And don't ask me, I don't want to be stabbed to death by my girlfriend..."

"Um... Are those two also students at U.A?" Melissa whispered to Yaoyorozu with a rather concerned look.

And with their extremely sensitive ears, the two girls-loving grandfather and grandson immediately turned around and responded with a look that was... no different from bragging...

"Yep!"

"We are the heroes of the future!!"

Following the script, Tenya also ran to where we were sitting and scared the two of them until their faces turned pale because he couldn't brake in time. Luckily nothing happened, tt's just that two of them were blamed by Tenya for not showing themselves to be good workers..

And it turned out that the way everyone got tickets here was quite... interesting to talk about. For Tenya and Momo, both of them were representatives of their families who came here because their whole families, for Tenya, everyone was busy so he went instead, for Momo, of course, because his family had shares in the exhibition so it was natural for them to go. For Kyoka and Ochako, both of them getting here was also... a long process, because the rock-paper-scissors game between the girls in the class to decide who got the tickets was also very complicated and confusing.

As for that bastard Bakugo, no, Bakugay, he got a ticket here because he won first place in the U.A. Sports Festival - if I remember correctly, that was in the original, "Toothpaste" Shoto came here to represent his father, and the rest of the class was also on the island and would also attend the exhibition when it opened.

Melissa, being kind, promised everyone that she would take everyone on a tour when the exhibition opened completely. This was pretty predictable, but for Mineta and Kaminari, this was nothing more than a huge favor...

As soon as Bakugo was mentioned, there were some pretty big explosions at the "Villain Attack" game area, causing everyone to run over to see what was going on out of curiosity.

It turns out that Eijiro had just finished his challenge - 33 seconds, which was pretty fast. Bakugo joined the challenge right after, finishing just 15 seconds later. Well, even though this bastard had what I would say was a high ass, his ability was enough to prove that he had that unreasonable pride, which was quite understandable...

Suddenly, he jumped onto the stage and... asked in a much "less brutal" manner than usual...?

"Well, it seems you're here too, Deku?"

This...surprised me quite a bit.

It seems that what I said wasn't in vain after all...

Following this unexpected reaction, a series of chain reactions also began to run.

There was no scene of Tenya and Katsuki arguing, no unpleasant harshness in the conversation, and Izuku's groveling face when he heard Katsuki's threat. Nothing too extreme.

Izuku still went down there to challenge himself, still activated Full Cowl 5% and got 2nd place in 16 seconds, and Melissa's surprised expression remained the same. It seemed... quite... peaceful.. until Shoto broke Katsuki's record and made him go berserk again, with Tenya, Eijiro, and Izuku having to go down there to stop him, and the three girls from Class 1-A all looking embarrassed at his rudeness towards Melissa. It was fun, but it also made me realize one thing.

It would take more than small actions like this to completely change the ending, otherwise with this "law of the conservation of fate" - perhaps - it seems not enough. It cannot be enough...

Maybe what I can do tonight will make a difference...

  1. In chapter 29, Ryuga suggested that Izuku and Ochako should study together at Izuku's house before the final exams, so that Izuku could "deal with" his own feelings for her and vice versa.
  2. Chapter 23, Ryuga once asked Katsuki to apologize to Izuku for what he did in the past (both physical and verbal bullying) when he came and apologized to him. Before witnessing this, Ryuga thought that this would definitely not happen in the original timeline, at least during I-Expo.
