Chapter 71: "The Thread Beyond Worlds"
In a realm far from the mortal plane, a boy stood in the center of a glowing void. His red hair swayed with divine energy, and a deep red glow burned within his eyes. Before him floated an orb — a living map of countless universes, flickering and shifting with every passing second.
He scoffed, voice filled with disgust.
> "These stupid humans. Always fighting… always summoning forbidden powers like they understand what they're touching. Pathetic. Wasting my time."
Suddenly, the room shifted as a mysterious figure walked through the dark corridor of cosmic light. Cloaked in shadows with a cold presence, he spoke without hesitation.
> "Finish your mission already. Or the White One will erase you from existence."
The red-haired boy's expression twisted with rage.
> "Tch. You dare speak like that to me? I'm stronger than you. So shut up. Got it?"
His gaze sharpened, and the air cracked with pressure. For a moment, the multiverse seemed to tremble under his anger. Then he turned and walked away, fists clenched.
> "Those fools… they disturbed me. I'll teach them what real fear is."
The cosmic light dimmed, and with that, the boy vanished.
Meanwhile, in the open skies above the Storm Plateau, Shen Karguro was locked in battle. A massive Arcane Dragon, glowing with runes and fury, roared across the battlefield. Shen danced through the sky using his Dark Mage power, teleporting mid-air and slicing with blinding speed.
His twin blades clashed against the dragon's armored scales, sparks flying like meteor showers.
From a nearby rock, Kenya and Ruke were watching lazily.
Ruke yawned. "Boring fight. Shen's already way overkill."
Kenya leaned back, arms crossed. "He's not even trying. Look at his stance — that's his half-focus style."
Behind them, Eliz had a glowing scroll unrolled, filled with numbers and names. She adjusted her glasses and muttered:
> "Shen's kill record... 700 Arcane Dragons, 456 Arcane Demons. Kenya, 900 Arcane Dragons, 34 Arcane Demons, and one full army of Arcane Warriors from the Sand Dimension.
Ruke, 456 Arcane Dragons.
Me… just 12.
And Lilia… somehow 300?! What the hell—how?"
Kenya turned slightly. "She probably sweet-talked the dragon to death."
Ruke laughed. "Or danced on its head. Wait—WAIT. What's our total mission reward?"
Eliz kept reading, eyes glowing brighter. "Let's see...
Total money earned: 500 trillion drills.
From Heavenly Paradise's Treasury — 40,000 million drills' worth of equipment.
Weapon count: 376 magical-grade weapons.
Also obtained: 34 Ice and Fire Golems.
Total estimated worth: 1,234 trillion drills."
Ruke nearly fell off the rock. "A-Are we... are we a mission team or a nation now?!"
Kenya calmly replied, "We've been a superpower since Chapter 40."
The air suddenly shifted as Shen sliced the Arcane Dragon in half with one final strike, landing gracefully before the others with his long coat fluttering.
Ruke stood, pointing. "You smiled again. That same creepy calm smile."
Shen smirked. "Maybe I'm just happy."
Eliz tilted her head. "Or maybe he's hiding something."
Lilia arrived late, munching fruit. "Did I miss something?"
Ruke: "Yeah. About 1234 trillion drills worth of action."
Lilia: "Eh, I was busy with golems. They listen better than you guys."
The team stood together under the glowing sky, laughter and chaos echoing in the wind — unaware that far beyond their world, the red-haired boy had begun to move.
And the storm he'd bring… would be like nothing they'd faced before.
