After leaving the Hidden Rain Village, the masked man arrived at a secret base...one so well-hidden that not even a third party knew of its existence.

As he entered, he removed the spiral mask from his face.

Behind him, a patch of moss on the wall stirred and unfurled, revealing a pitcher plant.

Slowly, it split open to reveal a face half black, half white.

"How did it go?"

Obito remained silent for a moment before placing the mask back on. Without turning around he asked.

"Kushina... she's close to giving birth."

The white half said.

White Zetsu's tone lightened with interest and he added.

"So... the Nine Tails Jinchūriki is entering her delivery period. That's undoubtedly when she'll be at her weakest."

Black Zetsu added in a deeper voice

"Don't be careless. Tsunade will be overseeing the delivery. And Namikaze Minato will definitely be nearby."

A pause.

Black Zetsu continued

"And you know... he will be there too."

Beneath the mask, Obito's brow furrowed.

"Guts?"

That annoying guy who used to tease him back in their academy days.

Despite the teasing, their relationship hadn't been bad.

White Zetsu nodded.

"Yeah. The best strategy is to lure him away from the village. But so far, nothing's worked."

"Ever since the Third Great Ninja War ended, he hasn't left the village once. And with Tsunade as Hokage now, no one really has the authority to order him around."

Obito crossed his arms, deep in thought. Indeed, Guts was a serious obstacle.

If he stayed in the village, the plan to extract the Nine Tails would be nearly impossible to execute.

Even though the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path was meant to seal the Tailed Beasts in order...from One Tail to Nine Tails.

If an opportunity presented itself, it was better to take it than let it slip.

Kushina's childbirth… it was the perfect moment to strike. The best chance to extract the most troublesome of the Tailed Beasts.

He couldn't let it go to waste.

Then, Black Zetsu spoke again, more slowly this time.

"There's an interesting piece of information. Guts... doesn't get along well with Danzo, Homura, and Koharu from the Konoha Elders Council. Perhaps we could exploit that."

Obito's eyes lit up. A smile crept into his voice.

"Hm… that might just work. Let's dig into that further."

---

What they didn't know was that the Guts they thought they were dealing with… was having a rather unique problem.

Well, not exactly a problem.

Kurenai folded her arms in front of her chest, staring at Guts as if deep in thought.

Guts, suddenly aware of her gaze, began to feel oddly nervous despite having no real reason to be.

'Wait… did she somehow find out that I've been doing nothing but clapping Tsunade's cheeks in the Hokage's office lately? No way! How could she possibly know?!'

A whirlwind of thoughts flooded his mind as he tried to figure out where he might've slipped up.

Then, out of nowhere, Kurenai said something that completely caught him off guard.

"Guts! I think I'm ready!"

"Huh? Ready for what?"

Guts asked, although he had a pretty good idea what she meant.

Kurenai gave him a sharp look, then sighed, took a deep breath, and said with a blushing face:

"I… I think we can… you know… we can… now."

"Kurenai, if you don't tell me clearly, how can I know what you want?"

Guts replied, tilting his head like he truly didn't understand.

Kurenai felt like storming off at his deliberate act, but then she paused, took a deep breath, and with a trembling voice declared:

"Guts… I need you."

Then she lowered her head, cheeks burning red.

Guts looked at her, unable to stop his heart from beating wildly like the Drums of Desire.

Without saying a word, he gently picked Kurenai up and carried her to their room.

Kurenai blushed deeply but didn't resist, letting him lay her softly on the bed.

"Kurenai… are you sure about this? We can still wait if you..."

"Why are you acting so cowardly, Guts? I thought you were more than that,"

She cut in, her tone teasing but firm.

Guts didn't reply. He simply smiled.

But that smile carried another meaning entirely.

Konoha, August, Year 48

Yuhi Kurenai and a heavily pregnant Uzumaki Kushina sat with Uchiha Mikoto, both women gazing fondly at the newborn in Mikoto's arms.

"Wow! So cute! Is it a girl?"

Kushina asked, eyes sparkling.

Mikoto shook her head with a gentle smile.

"Nope. It's a boy."

Kurenai leaned in, full of curiosity.

"So this is what a newborn looks like… he's so small."

Mikoto laughed softly.

"What's the matter? Feeling like trying it yourself, Kurenai?"

The young girl's face instantly flushed red.

"N-No way! I'm only fifteen!"

Mikoto chuckled, but her eyes were deep. Of course, she could tell Kurenai wasn't as innocent as she let on.

Kushina suddenly looked uneasy, her voice quieter.

"Mikoto… does it hurt? I mean, giving birth… is it really painful?"

Mikoto looked at her in surprise before smiling warmly.

"Well, well... I didn't expect the fearless Red Hot-Blooded Habanero to be scared of something."

Before Kushina could protest, a familiar voice interrupted.

"Kushina! What are you doing running around here?"

Tsunade strode over, her arms crossed, golden hair swaying with each step. It was rare for her to be free from the pressures of the Hokage's office.

"Sorry, Tsunade-sama... it's just so boring staying cooped up at home,"

Kushina said with an apologetic grin.

Tsunade sighed, nodding politely to Kurenai and Mikoto before taking Kushina by the arm and pulling her aside.

"Listen," she said seriously.

"My grandmother always warned me—Jinchūriki childbirth is dangerous. When she gave birth to my father, if my grandfather Hashirama hadn't been there, the Nine Tails would've rampaged."

Kushina grinned sheepishly.

"Well, with you around, I'm sure everything will be fine."

Tsunade scowled.

"Don't just trust me blindly, idiot."

Seeing her friend's trusting smile, Tsunade couldn't help but feel flustered.

Suddenly, Kushina leaned in with a mischievous gleam in her eyes.

"By the way… Tsunade, you ever think about having a kid with that guy? Guts?"

Tsunade nearly tripped into the nearby drainage ditch.

"You...you...where the hell did you hear that?!"

Kushina shrank back, laughing nervously.

"I-I mean… it's just… kinda obvious from how you act. But no one dares say anything since they're all afraid Guts will punch them into the next week…"

Tsunade had never wanted to disappear more than in that moment.

Elsewhere in Konoha — Ichiraku Ramen Shop

Inside the humble ramen shop, a small mountain of empty bowls stood between two shinobi.

Minato looked at the stack and winced, rubbing his wallet with a sigh.

Across from him, Guts wiped his mouth with a napkin, then gave Minato a sidelong glance.

"Alright, Minato-chan. You've been fidgeting for five minutes. What do you want to ask?"

Minato opened his mouth, but Guts cut in.

"Kushina's about to give birth, isn't she?"

Minato blinked in surprise. Then nodded.

"Yeah. I'm worried that the Nine Tails might try to break through the seal during labor. It happened before...Uzumaki Mito nearly lost control when she gave birth."

"I don't know a damn thing about sealing,"

Guts replied bluntly.

"So what do you need from me?"

Minato looked him in the eye.

"In case something does happen… I need someone strong enough to stop the Nine Tails."

Guts leaned back, arms crossed.

"A piece of cake."

Minato blinked again.

"R-Really?"

Guts shrugged.

"Sure. If it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind testing my strength against the strongest of the Tailed Beasts. Sounds like fun."

Minato let out a breath of relief.

"Thank you, Guts."

"Don't mention it."

To minimize the damage in the event of a worst-case scenario, Minato, Tsunade, and the other village leaders chose a shrine more than ten miles away from Konoha as the site for Kushina's delivery.

It was a strategic decision. If the Nine Tails did escape, at least the village itself wouldn't be caught in the destruction.

Half a month before the expected delivery date, Kushina was moved into the shrine under constant surveillance, with Minato personally overseeing her condition.
