While Toby's version of Peter was still hesitating over his choice of opponent, Tony Stark walked over to Alex Ray and said, "How about lending me that Cosmic Cube for two days?"
Tony had no interest in the sparring match between the two kids. What really piqued his curiosity was the Space Stone. He wanted to take it back to study.
Why did such miraculous things exist in the universe? And what exactly was the principle behind the Space Stone's energy?
These questions filled Tony with intrigue. If he could somehow defeat Alex Ray, he'd even consider snatching the Space Stone outright. It might provide enhancements to his armor.
"It's not like I'm asking for it free of charge. Five million dollars per day—lend it to me for a few days!" He stretched out five fingers, eyes gleaming with anticipation.
Alex Ray had originally intended to refuse outright. After all, the Space Stone still had a vital use: it was needed to replenish the energy required for his exclusive skill barrier.
But when he saw Peter still struggling to find an opponent, a thought suddenly occurred to him.
"Forget the money. I already charged you a hundred million dollars once. I'll lend it to you for two days," he said calmly.
After all, he had no intention of returning the Space Stone—it was far too useful.
Tony's eyes lit up at those words.
But he didn't show his excitement immediately. Instead, he looked at Alex warily. He understood one thing: nothing was ever truly free.
He waited for Alex's next condition.
Could it be that Alex was hoping he'd fend off the incoming trouble from S.H.I.E.L.D.? If it was about the Space Stone, Tony wouldn't mind shielding Alex from some of the heat.
"But you have to fight the kid," Alex said, pointing to Peter.
Tony was momentarily stunned. He had expected some outrageous demand but hadn't anticipated such a simple request. He had no reason to decline.
"You say he's not your apprentice, but you treat him like one," Tony teased.
"No problem. Let's see what your 'not-apprentice' can do." A flicker of fighting spirit sparked in Tony's eyes. "But I won't go easy."
"Hit him as hard as you want. Peter's not as weak as he looks," Alex replied evenly, full of confidence in Peter's abilities.
Tony didn't think much of it. How strong could a kid who barely looked out of high school possibly be?
He walked up to Peter, clapped a hand on his shoulder, and said, "Alright, kid. Your teacher says I'm your opponent."
His tone was light, a bit teasing, not taking Peter too seriously.
Peter tensed up. He wasn't sure how strong Tony truly was, but he had unwavering faith that Alex wouldn't set him up to fail.
So he nodded, trying his best to appear calm.
"Now that we've picked our opponents, let's make this quick," Tony said, turning to head outside for the fight.
All he wanted now was to wrap things up fast and take the Space Stone back for analysis.
But just as Tony and the others were about to step out, Alex stopped them.
"No need to go out. Just fight here."
Everyone froze, confused. Fight inside the restaurant?
"Huh? Why here?" Harry was the first to voice his confusion.
"Don't you care about your restaurant?" Wanda asked, clearly surprised.
Tony didn't protest, though he knew such a small space would limit his moves. He looked at Alex, trying to guess his plan.
Alex gave a mysterious smile and said softly, "Who said we're going to fight here?"
He scanned the room until his gaze settled on a blank wall in the corner.
Just as everyone's eyes followed his, the wall shimmered—and suddenly, a door materialized out of thin air.
Everyone stared in shock and confusion.
They looked to one another, uncertain.
But Alex remained unfazed. He calmly pushed the door open and turned around. "Well? Don't just stand there."
Everyone snapped out of their daze and quickly followed him into the newly revealed space.
Inside, they found themselves in a square room roughly 100 by 100 meters.
The walls were smooth like mirrors, reflecting a soft glow that gave the space an eerie, mysterious aura.
Tony Stark's eyes widened as he took it all in. "Is this also part of the Space Stone's ability?" he asked, voice full of curiosity and wonder.
Deadpool, recently freed by Wanda, was so excited he started patting the walls, as if trying to uncover the secret. He'd lived here for so long without ever discovering this hidden chamber.
Facing the group's puzzled looks, Alex offered a half-truth. "Yes. This space was created using the Space Stone's power."
"It can also expand further. Most importantly, no matter what kind of attack is used in here, the room can withstand it. You can use this for training whenever you like."
Everyone's faces lit up in surprise. Deadpool immediately drew his twin katanas and slashed at the wall—no marks were left.
No one noticed the pain flicker across Alex's face. He had spent over 200 friend points to set up this space. Still, seeing their amazement, he consoled himself—it wasn't a waste.
"Alright, enough exploring. Let's start the match. Harry, you and Pietro go first," Alex called out, snapping everyone back to the task at hand.
Soon, Harry and Pietro stood opposite each other in the center of the room.
"The match begins now!" Jessica Jones announced, stopwatch in hand—Alex had designated her as referee.
Pietro adjusted his goggles and asked Harry with a confident smirk, "Want me to take it easy on you?"
Harry immediately pulled out his Lost Drive, eyes steely with resolve. "No. Go all out!"
Pietro shrugged nonchalantly.
Alex turned to Deadpool, who was bouncing with excitement. "Want to cancel the bet?"
Alex already knew Harry had no chance. He could sense Pietro was using his super speed abilities.
Deadpool spun to face Alex, stubborn as ever. "Don't underestimate Harry! He's got the Transformer you gave him and the unbeatable fighting skills I taught him. No way he's losing!"
Alex just shook his head. He pointed behind Deadpool and said, "You might want to look at your student now."
Deadpool turned around skeptically—only to see Harry tightly bound by rope, completely immobilized. His Lost Drive had somehow ended up in Pietro's hand.
"No! Harry! How could you lose that fast?! My beach, my sunshine, my bikini babes!" Deadpool clutched his head and howled.
Refusing to give up, he walked up to Pietro and grumbled, "Come on, couldn't you have let the kid win?"
Everyone else just laughed and shook their heads at the scene.
