Rais stared in stunned silence as Xiaofeng's single punch sent Pierre sprawling to the ground. Hastily, he grasped Xiaofeng's arm, pleading, "Xiaofeng, don't escalate this... after all, Pierre is my cousin." Moreover, with the formidable group behind Xiaofeng, if a battle truly erupted, the Alliance forces across the way would be utterly overwhelmed.
Xiaofeng cast a cold sneer at the rising Pierre. "Get lost."
Pierre said nothing further, wiping the blood from his lip, and retreated silently with his soldiers.
The others resumed their drinking. After lunch, Xiaofeng turned to Kelly and the others, "You all should head back. With me here, it will suffice. Besides, Uncle Hebrew also needs protection."
Kelly understood his implication and nodded in acknowledgment. "Very well, we'll take our leave then. Xiaofeng, be careful."
"I shall," Xiaofeng replied with a firm nod.
William approached, hands in his pockets, a trace of pride in his tone. Before departing, his father had charged him with looking after this Xiaofeng fellow. "Shall I keep Rush here for you?"
Xiaofeng chuckled, "Forget it. If he truly starts fighting K, that's beyond our control."
"Rest assured, I've already clarified matters with him. Once this is settled, we'll address that issue. This affair is too grave to be distracted by secondary concerns—you know what I mean."
Xiaofeng nodded thoughtfully. "If you've made arrangements with him, then I welcome his presence."
"Very well. My father tasked me with taking good care of you, and though I've done little, I'll leave him here. May our future cooperation be prosperous!" William extended his right hand, which Xiaofeng clasped without hesitation.
To Xiaofeng, this handshake meant little, yet William saw it differently. Though Kelly was the chief heir of the Brown company, as a woman she would inevitably depend on a man. Xiaofeng seemed the perfect candidate. In William's mind, it was not impossible that Xiaofeng might one day succeed the Brown legacy. Meanwhile, Xiaofeng was already the designated heir to the Victoria company, which would soon be his.
Thus, to William, this handshake symbolized the alliance of two corporate titans, hence his wish for fruitful cooperation.
After seeing everyone off, the kills also departed by vehicle, leaving only Xiaofeng, Rais, Old White, Ivy, Alice, and Rush in the room.
Sipping his wine, Xiaofeng confided to Rais, "Your cousin has clearly lost composure. I suspect he's received orders from the Alliance army to deliberately allow the Cult of the Evil Dragon to attack us."
Rais nodded in agreement, "Yes, especially when those beasts appeared—they must have been detected."
"So," Xiaofeng said, "Pierre cannot be allowed to remain."
Rais blinked in surprise. "What do you mean?"
Xiaofeng smiled coldly. "War with the Alliance forces is imminent. We should strike first and seize control of all Alliance troops near Godo City. This will greatly benefit both the Brown and Victoria companies in the future."
Rush chimed in, "I agree with Xiaofeng. If conflict arises, I will back you all."
Xiaofeng nodded. "With Rush's aid, the task will be easier. Our greatest challenge will be managing the Alliance soldiers once under our control."
Rais's face darkened. "If that's the case, I can deploy mercenaries from my company to disperse and oversee the Alliance troops across various protected zones. But, Xiaofeng, your plan is extraordinarily bold."
Xiaofeng smiled grimly. "Preemptive action is the only way. Waiting passively for the Alliance to strike is like today's ambush by the Cultists—too reckless. Had we been forewarned, far fewer brothers would have fallen. Our boldness now aims to reduce future casualties, do you not agree?"
His words struck a chord with Rais, who slammed his fist on the table. "You're right, you little bastard. Let's do it. When do we move?"
Xiaofeng drained his cup, voice resolute. "Tonight. No time to waste."
A surge of fervor swept the room. With an eighth-level psychic like Rush on their side, their courage swelled.
They dispersed to prepare. Xiaofeng meticulously cleaned the Black Angel, checking the scant dozen rounds left. Though powerful, its ammunition was perilously limited. He thought of the arms dealer Glass, hoping to procure more.
Rais seemed equally resolved, unveiling his laser cannon. Xiaofeng charged it with energy. Despite its unwieldy size, Xiaofeng longed to wield such a weapon.
Under Xiaofeng's direction, they infiltrated Godo City in small groups. Marching openly would invite Pierre's suspicion and costly losses. Xiaofeng's strategy promised minimal casualties.
Brada, Xiaofeng, Rush, Alice, and Ivy arrived at Glass's arms stall to resupply and wait for their rendezvous.
Glass froze as Xiaofeng unloaded the Black Angel from the vehicle, gazing at it with trembling reverence, as if beholding a deity. "Black Angel... I never imagined this old man would see it again in his lifetime!"
Xiaofeng grinned, shouldering the weapon. "Want to hold it?"
"Of course..."
"You may, but I only have a dozen rounds left. Can you get me more?"
Glass paused, then his face twisted with frustration. "Where could I possibly source Black Angel ammo? These rounds aren't ordinary..."
