Rush, clad in the same style of black armor as Xiao Feng, surged forward to the vanguard. This time, rather than launching an attack, he unleashed a formidable level-8 psychic power to withstand the torrent of bullets that fell like a meteor shower.
The hailstorm of tracer rounds was effortlessly deflected by Rush's potent mental force, scattering like water crashing against a jagged reef. His psychic shield served as an impervious umbrella, safeguarding both himself and Xiao Feng.
The two titans advanced swiftly toward the dozen or so burly men wielding heavy machine guns.
Rush's overwhelming presence left Pierre and his squad of gunners utterly stunned; they instinctively staggered backward in disbelief as the duo closed the distance.
Just as Rush and Xiao Feng neared within a dozen meters of the machine gunners, two tanks thundered onto the scene behind them. Their blackened barrels locked onto Rush without hesitation, unleashing a deafening barrage—"Boom, boom"—aimed squarely at the level-8 psychic.
The colossal shells slammed into Rush's psychic shield with explosive force, hurling him violently backward. Shrapnel ricocheted harshly against his armor, rattling him senseless. Thankfully, clad in his protective suit, Rush endured what would have otherwise pulverized even one of his immense psychic abilities.
As Rush was flung away, Xiao Feng accelerated beneath him, charging toward the cluster of machine gunners.
Like a phantom streaking through shadows, Xiao Feng knew he had to unleash his full power—anything less would not bring him close enough.
He surged forward, closing the gap in under two seconds—too swiftly to allow the gunners time to re-aim. He was already upon them.
What followed became a nightmare etched into the memories of those Alliance soldiers.
Electric currents erupted instantaneously across Xiao Feng's entire body, enveloping the dozen machine gunners, including Pierre himself. Their limbs convulsed into paralysis, sending their weapons wildly discharging as they collapsed to the ground.
With those enemies neutralized, Xiao Feng's attention turned to the two menacing tanks.
The nearly 20mm autocannons atop the tanks locked onto him—"thud, thud"—and opened fire.
Xiao Feng pivoted sharply, darting toward the armored vehicles.
Drawing their fire, a rocket launcher-equipped armored vehicle suddenly appeared behind him, its salvo of rockets locking onto the tanks and blazing fiercely.
One by one, rockets streaked through the night sky, trailing fiery tails before detonating against the tanks.
Explosions ripped the tanks apart just meters from Xiao Feng, their violent shockwaves hurling him several dozen meters before he landed beside the fallen Rush.
Grimacing in pain, Xiao Feng cursed, "Damn, that hurt like hell…"
Reis appeared beside them, hoisting both Xiao Feng and Rush with ease, laughing boisterously, "Thought you two were so tough? Ha! Looks like it's game over now."
Xiao Feng shot back, "Nonsense. We're just catching our breath…"
Under his armor, Rush's face betrayed his frustration—defeated so easily by these Alliance soldiers was intolerable. With a sudden shove, he broke free from Reis's grasp and charged forth.
At that moment, the citizens of Godo City turned their gaze toward the Alliance barracks, drawn by the explosive sounds. Even Lin, working in the repair shop, and K, still in the city, emerged, curiosity piqued.
K asked Lin, "What's that place?"
Lin frowned, "That's the Alliance barracks."
Just then, K's communicator buzzed. He answered to a grim-faced man in uniform: "Mr. K, are you currently in Godo City?"
K nodded. "Yes…"
"We require your assistance—the Alliance barracks are under attack by an unknown armed force. Could you and your team provide support?"
K chuckled softly, "That can be arranged, but what's the payment?"
"Five hundred thousand Alliance credits have already been transferred to your account."
K laughed again, "Five hundred thousand? That's too little."
"I'll add another five hundred thousand."
"One million credits? Well, in that case, I see no reason not to help. We're leaving immediately."
He turned to his Kill team members. "Our target: Alliance barracks. Move out swiftly. Each of you stands to earn nearly a hundred thousand credits on this operation."
For the Kill members, that was no small sum. Several sports cars roared to life, and they sped toward the barracks.
Lin sat with furrowed brows, suspicion growing. Besides the X Mercenary Corps, who else possessed the might to strike the Alliance soldiers so brazenly?
The sports cars tore into the shadowed streets of Godo City.
Meanwhile, inside the barracks, Rush's fury surged anew. He conjured a swirling tempest of countless spent bullet casings—nearly ten thousand rounds discharged by the relentless machine guns earlier—thousands of which now floated around him.
Fixing his gaze on the oncoming soldiers, Rush swept his hands violently, hurling the spinning casings like lethal projectiles.
To ordinary Alliance troops, a level-8 psychic like Rush was a living nightmare.
Even Xiao Feng was taken aback by the spectacle. He shouted, "No! Don't kill them…"
But it was too late. The thousands of metallic casings descended mercilessly, overwhelming the soldiers.
Within moments, the battlefield was strewn with groaning, fallen men.
