Ivy and Old White's forces had quelled the first wave of the beast tide, annihilating all the mutated rats without mercy.
Tu Gou and his squad of mech warriors unleashed a relentless barrage upon the second wave, and with the support of the armored infantry vehicles, the hunting dog beast tide was swiftly decimated.
Xiao Feng and Rush leapt directly down from the defensive wall, striding toward the approaching third wave of beasts.
Their bold move startled the soldiers stationed atop the wall, who could scarcely fathom how these two intended to confront the wolf pack.
The gate in the defensive wall swung open, and Xiao Feng's modified sports car rolled out, driven by Kerry, who grinned mischievously with a cigarette dangling from his lips. Parking beside Xiao Feng, he teased, "If you're going to show off, you should've taken me along."
Xiao Feng eyed Kerry's cavalier demeanor. "Don't go looking for trouble. You're only a Level Four psychic. Don't come with us. If the wolves get you, how am I supposed to explain it to your sister?"
"Forget that! If you won't let me come, I'm going anyway. So what if I'm a Level Four? You think you're any better?" Kerry scoffed, glancing disdainfully at Xiao Feng.
Xiao Feng shook his head. "Idiot..." muttering the insult under his breath, he and Rush climbed into the car. Rush squeezed into the back seat while Xiao Feng took the passenger side.
Kerry glanced over. "Hey, did you just call me an idiot?"
"Yeah, and what are you gonna do about it?"
"Damn it, Xiao Feng, I think you've been spoiled rotten. Watch your back, or I might just have to rough you up."
From the back, Rush warned, "Kerry, don't overestimate yourself. If you went up against Xiao Feng now, you'd regret it."
With a roar, Kerry slammed the accelerator, the sports car surging forward. "Regret what? Though I've driven all your cars before, this one's mine to keep..."
Xiao Feng gripped the handle tightly, scolding, "Why are you driving so recklessly? You want to die or what?"
A smirk tugged at Kerry's lips as he flicked ash from his cigarette out the window. "A fine car is like a beautiful woman—if you don't push her to her limits, it's like seeing a naked woman but never getting close. It's agonizing."
"You call that a philosophy?"
They sped for several kilometers before the third wave of beast tide came into view. Xiao Feng, intimately familiar with these G-grade demon wolves, exited the car and retrieved a flat case from the trunk containing the Black Angel sniper rifle. He swiftly assembled the weapon.
Kerry lit another cigarette and approached, eyes widening at the sight of the modified Black Angel in Xiao Feng's hands. "Hey, how do you have two of these? And this one's clearly been customized."
"Heh, you're right. This rifle's been upgraded—its power is extraordinary now." Xiao Feng leapt onto the car roof, raised the Black Angel, and peered through the scope at the distant wolves. The weapon was imposing, especially the magazine beneath the barrel, packed with a hundred slender Black Angel rounds.
Kerry hefted the other rifle, frowning. "So heavy…"
"Heh, without psychic strength and evolved abilities, handling this sniper rifle is downright perilous."
Ignoring Xiao Feng's warning, Kerry struggled to raise the heavy sniper rifle, chuckling, "I begged my father for this rifle so many times, but he never gave it to me. How come you got it then? This gun's too damn cool."
"Maybe it's because you're not exactly likable, Uncle Hebrew probably hates you."
"How do you know?"
Through the scope, Xiao Feng spotted the advancing wolf pack and murmured, "Alright, open fire." A sharp crack rang out as a slender Black Angel bullet spun rapidly from the barrel. Xiao Feng adjusted the rifle's angle slightly and fired again without hesitation.
Though Kerry was a Level Four psychic, his marksmanship was poor. Using the third scope and the rifle's auto-targeting system, he locked onto a sprinting demon wolf several kilometers away and fired. The recoil slammed him off the car roof with a thud.
"Damn, that kickback's brutal!" Kerry hadn't expected such force.
Xiao Feng continued firing, chiding him, "I told you this rifle wasn't for you. Didn't believe me, huh? Now you see."
One by one, the demon wolves fell as the Black Angel's bullets struck their eyes, sending them tumbling to the ground, convulsing briefly before death claimed them.
Feeling the rifle's recoil was still manageable, Xiao Feng unleashed a furious barrage.
Kerry watched, stunned. "Damn, you're a madman..." Though irritated, he secretly admired Xiao Feng's prowess; such feats were beyond his own reach in a lifetime.
After a minute of rapid fire, the magazine was empty, having felled a hundred wolves. Xiao Feng tossed the rifle to Kerry. "Kerry, hand me your gun… reload mine."
Reluctantly, Kerry handed over his Black Angel. Xiao Feng swiftly resumed firing.
From the back, Rush smiled at Xiao Feng's domineering stance atop the car, shooting relentlessly. "I shouldn't have come with you two. You're more than enough to handle these wolves."
"Not quite. The wolves are advancing fast; they'll be here in minutes. That's when you step in," Xiao Feng said without pausing his shooting.
Rush stretched lazily. "Alright, I'll warm up."
Xiao Feng emptied the second magazine, then Kerry handed him the reloaded rifle.
Rubbing his shoulder, already aching from the recoil, Xiao Feng gritted his teeth and fired again with wild abandon.
The rifle's violent recoil was taking its toll; Rush and Kerry exchanged worried glances as Xiao Feng grimaced in pain, determined despite the agony.
Suddenly, after a gunshot, a sharp crack of breaking bone echoed. Xiao Feng's arm went limp and dropped, the Black Angel clattering onto the car roof.
"Damn..." Xiao Feng crouched, clutching his shoulder in agony.
Rush and Kerry hurriedly asked, "What happened?"
"My arm's fractured—this pain's unbearable." Cold sweat dripped down his brow as he glanced toward the approaching wolves. "They're almost here. It'll take time to heal, so Rush, it's all on you now."
Rush nodded grimly. "Damn, I'll give it a shot. Since you're hurt, you should retreat."
Kerry echoed, "Yeah, get out of here—don't slow us down."
Xiao Feng shot Kerry a sharp look. "Even with a broken arm, I'm still stronger than you. Believe it or not."
"Whatever, stop bragging."
Meanwhile, atop the defensive wall, Alice raised a small telescope, fixing her gaze on Xiao Feng. Seeing him clutch his shoulder in pain, worry furrowed her brow. "Whitey, let's go—help Xiao Feng."
The towering Whitey, now over two meters tall and exuding an imposing aura, sprang to his feet.
Alice leapt onto Whitey's back as he fiercely leapt down from the wall, racing toward Xiao Feng's position with increasing speed, rivaling even the sports car.
But the wolf pack was drawing near, and Alice still had some distance to cover.
Frowning, she murmured anxiously, "Xiao Feng, please don't get hurt—we're almost there."
Whitey halted briefly upon spotting the oncoming wolves, his eyes burning with fierce resolve. He surged forward faster, bearing Alice toward the fray.
Rush glared at the ferocious wolves bearing down on them and cursed, "Xiao Feng, damn it, you've gotten me into a world of trouble." As he spoke, countless psychic cones materialized around him, blasting fiercely into the wolf pack.
The wolves collapsed in droves. Seeing Rush's assault, Whitey howled to the sky.
Alice gripped Whitey's fur tightly, recognizing his uncharacteristic ferocity. Having spent so much time together, she knew exactly what he was thinking—Rush's massacre had enraged Whitey.
Whitey vaulted fiercely over Rush's head, then spun around, letting out a thunderous howl directly at him.
