Adi's tone was icy cold, brimming with hostility.
His left hand, which was clamped around her neck, kept tightening its grip.
Adi had viewed the villa's surveillance footage. Nadi had been carried away by Hasan, her face pressed against Hasan's chest. It was an intimate scene!
To Adi, the sight was overwhelmingly glaring. He was now consumed with rage, and the thought of strangling Nadi wouldn't even come close to quelling his anger.
"You claim to love me in your heart, yet you can be so cozy and affectionate with other men. Nadi, you truly astonish me!"
"Get up! Stop this pretense. Do you think I'm as gullible as Hasan, to be deceived by your despicable act?"
As Nadi listened to this stream of words, she wore an expression as if she wanted to cry but couldn't shed a tear, and laughter was equally out of reach.
She mocked herself. She probably possessed some sort of foresight. See, just as she had anticipated, Adi assumed she was acting.
Should she feel fortunate for her foresight and avoid unnecessary trouble, or should she lament falling in love with such a heartless and ruthless man!
"Cough cough," Nadi coughed and with great effort managed to utter word by word, "You were being intimate with another man. Why are you so angry? Could it be... you are jealous?"
Nadi knew full well that Adi's anger couldn't possibly stem from jealousy, yet she said it anyway.
She was unsure of her own motives. Perhaps it was to disgust Adi, or maybe... there was still a glimmer of hope lingering in her heart, hoping that Adi was feeling jealous.
Adi laughed, "Nadi, only now do I realize that two years in prison have actually addled your brain."
Nadi seized the opportunity to push Adi's hand away. She panted heavily, and when she finally caught her breath, she retorted, "Then what is it that you care about? You want to strangle me as if I've inflicted deep wounds upon you. Those unaware might assume you love me dearly."
"Love?" Adi's eyes were filled with sarcasm, "You certainly have a knack for jokes. Me loving you? Ha, I will never love you in all my life!"
The phrase "never love you in all my life" weighed heavily, crashing down on Nadi's heart and causing it to ache.
Adi could discern Nadi's distress at a glance. He curled his lips into a smirk, pinched Nadi's chin in a triumphant manner, and enunciated word by word, "I care whether you are getting involved with other men for only one reason, and that is..."
"I must ensure that the child you bear is mine! Not some illegitimate offspring!"
"It's not so much that I care about you; rather, I care about your womb. Do you understand?"
He patted Nadi's face with his large palm, not too forcefully, yet sufficiently humiliating, "Nadi, don't get conceited. If it weren't for needing you to bear a child, I wouldn't give a damn even if you were cavorting with one man, ten men, a hundred men, or a thousand men!"
With each sentence Adi spoke, Nadi's face grew a shade paler. By the time Adi finished, all color had drained from Nadi's face.
"Such a pale face?" Adi narrowed his eyes, his tone nonchalant, "Are you in pain?"
He stood up, towering over her, "Still in love with me, aren't you."
Nadi was utterly devoid of strength. If every word Adi uttered was a blade, then she had already been subjected to death by a thousand cuts.
"My love is not a tool for you to harm me." Nadi's voice was feeble and hoarse.
Adi: "That's fine. Then stop loving me."
He declared with certainty, "You are incapable of doing so!"
Nadi was profoundly shaken by this statement.
