"Don't hit anymore." Julian firmly grasped Leo's neck and pulled him up. "Your sister could be in serious trouble."
As he spoke, Julian handed Leo a brooch that belonged to Nadi. "She said she owed you two thousand dollars but couldn't pay you back. She asked me to give this to you. She might... take her own life."
Despite the difficulty, Julian forced himself to say those final words.
Leo froze, suddenly turning toward the direction where Nadi had walked away.
As the sun set, Nadi's figure blended into the golden glow, as if being consumed by the evening shadows.
A wave of panic hit Leo. He quickly took the brooch and hurried toward Nadi with long strides.
Getting ahead of her, he turned around, spread his arms wide to block her path. His voice was hoarse and trembling. "Please don't walk any further. Come to the hospital with me."
