CHAPTER 16 (Doubts and Questions )

Charles, glancing at the phone screen, realized it was an unknown number. Rose took the phone, and Charles stepped away, leaving her alone. However, at one point, he stopped to watch what Rose would do—whether she would answer the call outside or elsewhere. But after looking at the screen, Rose hung up and began manipulating the phone as if she were writing a message. That’s exactly what she did: she replied to the caller by message. She placed the phone on the coffee table and went up to their bedroom to get ready.

After seeing what Rose had done, Charles went to the kitchen to get the chicken that was in the oven. Charles paid no attention to this call; he didn’t even try to find out who had called his wife. The only thing that worried him was to find a solution to what was wrong with his wife. After all that Anita had told him, he thought Anita surely had something up her sleeve and that Rose might fall into her trap if she was not careful.
