Ascension mission? Reincarnation Space? What are those supposed to be?
Having just returned to the Naruto world, still covered in dust from battle, Tsunade was visibly confused.
But at the very least, she could understand one thing from the system's announcement: "The difficulty of future missions will rise significantly." That part was clear enough to make her grit her teeth.
"That damned Lord God…"
Though she had already accepted her identity as a Reincarnator, that didn't mean she had developed any fondness for the so-called Lord God hiding behind the scenes.
After all, no one wanted their life to be under someone else's control.
Ah-choo!
Letting out a sneeze, Nawaki had just finished sorting out the matters concerning the Sannin.
Now that he had amassed over a hundred thousand points, he could finally proceed with his original plan—to create his own Reincarnation Space.
Honestly, in this day and age, if you're going to be a Lord God and don't even have your own exclusive space, you'd be too embarrassed to even talk to other gods. Finally, things are starting to get on track.
His sister and the others would be facing a much more complex mission next. After all, this was an Ascension Mission. It couldn't be as straightforward as before, just completing a single objective and calling it a day.
At the very least, it needed to include a web of difficult side missions and an interlinked main questline. That's the only way it would live up to the name "Ascension."
However…
When it came to actually designing such a mission, Nawaki wasn't confident. Should I consider exchanging for a talent in storytelling?
He chuckled self-deprecatingly as he dragged a few names into the teleport list and used a [Reincarnation Talisman].
Light and shadow twisted before his eyes.
In the blink of an eye, he found himself inside a dimly lit room.
The room had a medieval design, but everything appeared worn and aged, as though the owner hadn't been around for ages. Dust coated the tables and chairs, and spiderwebs stretched across the corners.
This world, huh…
Nawaki smiled faintly, pulled out a chair, patted the dust off it, and casually sat down to wait for the others to awaken.
Truth be told, at this moment, he was starting to regret his impulsive decision to personally join the reincarnator missions.
A Lord God should stay hidden in the shadows, manipulating everything from behind the scenes—that's what made you feel like a final boss.
Jumping into the reincarnator games himself? It felt a bit like writing himself into the plot, like Kayaba Akihiko from Sword Art Online, inserting himself into the game only to slip up and get taken down anyway.
Even if he never participated directly, no one would've suspected that some "ordinary person" in one of these worlds could actually be the mysterious Lord God.
Still, since he had already taken the leap, he had to see it through. At worst, he'd just slowly reduce his presence among the Reincarnators—better not be the first one to stick his head out.
As Nawaki mulled things over, the others began waking up and surveying their surroundings.
Minato, Yahiko, Nagato… It was almost the same team composition as last time.
Suddenly, Yahiko looked around and exclaimed in surprise:
"Wait—where's Konan?!"
Hearing his voice, Minato and Nagato quickly glanced around the room.
Their expressions shifted to confusion.
Indeed, aside from the four of them, there was no one else present—Kushina and Konan were both missing.
Weren't they all summoned into the reincarnator mission at the same time? Why is it just the four of us here?
Nawaki's voice calmly cut through the air.
"Looks like this time, the two of them aren't with us. They've probably been assigned to a different mission by the Lord God…"
Minato, Yahiko, and Nagato turned to look at Nawaki, puzzled.
He gave a wry smile and explained:
"Take a look at the exchange list. There's an item called [Squad Contract]. Only after using that item can multiple Reincarnators form a squad. When the Lord God assigns missions, only those in the same squad get sent together."
"We didn't form a squad, so when the mission began, we were split up…"
The three quickly opened the exchange list, and sure enough, they found the item.
So that was the reason.
Though the confusion was cleared up, their concern for the missing girls didn't lessen.
Even though the strongest among them—Nawaki—was with their group, they couldn't help but worry about what Kushina and Konan might be facing, and whether they'd be able to survive their respective missions.
The boys were all quite mature for their age. They kept their worries to themselves and exchanged serious looks.
Nawaki smiled lightly and broke the silence.
"It's been a month. Yahiko, Nagato—how have things been in the Land of Rain with Konan?"
"Not bad," Yahiko nodded. Since Nagato was shy and soft-spoken, he usually did most of the talking.
He also understood the importance of knowing each other's abilities when facing missions together—it helped coordination.
Since they'd already worked together before and had built trust, he spoke without reservation.
"After the last mission, we realized how weak we were and started training harder. Luckily, a powerful ninja began teaching us, so we're not lacking in ninjutsu for now. We also decided to use the points we earned to strengthen our bodies."
"A wise choice," Nawaki nodded.
The powerful ninja Yahiko referred to was, of course, one of the Legendary Sannin—Jiraiya.
It was because he was training them that Jiraiya had held back some jutsu from his last upload; the Lord God's system didn't allow uploaded techniques to be taught to others afterward.
After Yahiko finished, Minato followed up.
"I also used my points from the last mission to enhance my body. As for the ninjutsu manual you lent me, Big Brother Nawaki… I've only just started grasping the basics and haven't fully learned it yet. Right now, I've only managed to learn the Shadow Clone Technique…"
He scratched his head a little awkwardly.
Yahiko and Nagato didn't know what technique he was referring to and didn't think much of it.
Only Nawaki twitched at the corner of his mouth.
That's the S-rank space-time jutsu, Flying Thunder God! And you—who haven't even graduated from the academy—have already made this much progress in just a month?! That's insane.
Minato's talent for space-time ninjutsu was no joke.
Lastly, Nawaki offered his own update.
"I didn't earn many points last time, so they didn't contribute much to my strength. I've just been stockpiling them. Over the past month, my power has only increased slightly."
Yahiko and the others nodded in understanding.
With Nawaki's strength, a few hundred points wouldn't make much difference. It was wiser to save them.
As they finished their exchange…
A glowing screen appeared before them, filled with text:
[Current World: Titans]
[107 years ago, a new predator of humanity suddenly emerged—Titans.]
[These towering beings possessed massive strength and near-immortality, preying on humans across the land and bringing civilization to the brink of collapse.]
[In a desperate bid to survive, the last remnants of humanity built three enormous walls, living in peace behind them for over a century.]
[Until… this day—]
[Humanity remembered the fear of being ruled by Titans.]
