Chapter 83

Chapter 83 – Family Ties and False Faces

The Su family mansion in the southern district glittered like a jewel under the afternoon sun. On the surface, it radiated the grace of old money—white marble columns, manicured gardens, porcelain tea sets on the terrace.

But beneath its elegance, secrets festered.

Bai Xueqing stood at the entrance in a crisp white suit, her eyes cold and calculating. Mo Chen stood a step behind her, silent, powerful. Yanshang, with a few bruises and his usual smirk, trailed them lazily.

A butler opened the door. "Miss Bai, Master Su is expecting you."

"I'm sure he is," she murmured, stepping inside.

The scent of aged wood and sandalwood incense curled in the air. Family portraits stared down from the walls—men in suits, women in embroidered silk, generations of control and quiet manipulation.

In the sunlit parlor, Su Weilan sipped tea as if nothing had happened. He looked up with a smile.

"Xueqing. I haven't seen you since your mother's funeral."

She didn't sit. "Cut the civility, Uncle. I know everything."

His smile didn't falter. "You'll have to be more specific."

Mo Chen dropped the stack of evidence on the glass table. Documents, financial records, and intercepted messages from Zhou Wei's systems.

"Shall I read out your favorite aliases?" Mo Chen asked coldly.

Su Weilan sighed. "I see the boy has grown teeth. Impressive."

Yanshang snorted. "I could knock those teeth out for you, old man."

Su Weilan rose, smoothing his silk shirt. "Careful, children. You've come into a den without knowing where the snakes sleep."

Xueqing stepped forward, unflinching. "No, Uncle. I've studied every coil."

He looked at her, truly looked—his smirk fading. "You really are your father's daughter."

"But with my mother's ruthlessness," she added.

For a beat, silence fell.

Then he laughed. "Fine. You want a confession? Yes, I funded Zhou Wei's escape. Yes, I siphoned money through Bai Corp's overseas R&D to cover his trail. But you won't take me down without burning half the board along with me."

"I'm counting on it," she said coolly. "Let's see who still wants to keep their seats when the fire reaches their ankles."

---

Back in the car, Mo Chen turned to her. "Are you sure you want to go public with this?"

She stared ahead, expression unreadable. "No more secrets. I've played the heir, the survivor, the strategist. Now I play the queen."

Mo Chen smirked. "And I stand beside you."

"Don't get too comfortable," she said. "You're also my knight."

He leaned closer. "Then allow me to slay a few more dragons for you."

Yanshang groaned from the back seat. "You two flirt like it's foreplay for war."

They all laughed.

But outside the car window, a dark sedan trailed them.

And far across the city, someone watched the footage through gloved hands… and smiled.
