Vines that were hanging from the tall trees were tangled around a struggling Shade trying to bind and pull him back. It seems Shade was the one who woke him with a slap.
He couldn't understand why he didn't sense anything, danger of this level should not have been able to escape his senses. He noticed a few of the vibes were tied around his legs.
He pulled one of the daggers on his back, his arms felt heavy. He was still tired, why am this tired? It was strange, he did not do anything that would warrant so much fatigue.
He was able to free himself from the vines and a few swings of his dagger he freed Shade. The panther did not waste time, he grabbed him with his mouth and ran.
It was better this way because he found it hard to move on his own, as they ran vines swung from the trees like whips crackling the air around them.
Booming sound followed everywhere they ran and even Shade was starting to slow down so he dropped him. As if they had planned it both moved their blood essence, circulating it in their bodies.
Energy returned to them and they ran even faster, claws and blades net vines causing booming sounds to echo in the trees. He jumped and dodged a vine that tried to swipe his legs while diving forward to dodge another that swung above him.
He looked at the vines still flying towards them and was even more confused, he tried to sense if the trees were alive and nothing, they appeared like normal trees to him so what was going on here.
They ran and dodged the flying vines that were trying to entangle or whip them. Some of the vines had very sharp thorns and he knew if they hit him they would rip his skin to shreds.
While running they passed by a tree he thought he recognised but that was not possible, he was running in the opposite direction and the trees here did look similar.
So they continued running, he estimated they had ran for a hour, they were probably hundreds of kilometres away from their initial position by now.
Another hour passed and the feeling returned, that sense of deja vu he felt before. He frowned and he could hear Shade growl, he wasn't the only one who felt something was wrong here.
They had ran for so long and still was not out of this place, their blood essence was running low, although circulating it through their body was not demanding it still could not be maintained forever.
Some of the blood essence was lost in the process, little as it may be over time it becomes noticeable but they persisted, they had to get out of this God forsaken place.
Well every place was God forsaken in this world but this was worse, he hated how he did not understand what was happening or why.
Lost in his thoughts he jolted back to reality by the same sense of deva vu but this time it was stronger. He stopped and Shape stopped as well, walking around him in circles growling.
Something is wrong here, I can't explain it but something is really wrong here, he looked at the tree next to him, it looked exactly like the one he slept on.
It height and even it diameter was the same, he frowned. It can't be the same tree right, he hoped he was wrong because If he wasn't then they would be fucked.
To test his theory he drew a cross on the tree with his dagger. Please, let me be wrong about this. He really hoped he was wrong, with that done they continued running.
Another hour passed and his fears came true, there it was, the tree was right in front of him and a cross drawn in it was still fresh and new, a wave of fear flooded his body, he started shaking before collecting himself, he had to solve this.
The raven bloodline activated without his control. His processing ability became faster, why,why Is this happening? What am I missing?
No no no, first I need to figure out if this is an attack or natural phenomena, think, think Ashborn, when did things go wrong, when did it start?
He thought back and for a while nothing came to mind then it hit him.I first felt tired when we entered the part of the forest with the mist and why did I think to camp just because I saw no living creature around?
But he knew why, this was not the first part of the forest with mist, infact the last mist was thicker and denser and nothing happened, nothing went wrong so it's natural he wouldn't suspect this much thinner mist.
Even so, he knew himself, he might not be very intelligent but he prides himself in being cautious, there was no way he would think it was a good idea to camp in a forest without confirming it was safe.
Firstly, it made no sense for a safe place in a forest to not have any life at all, not even insect. Insects, like rats still had a number of them that were not corrupted.
He heard from Anitta that some but very few of them were corrupted so they were one of the very few animals from the Age before Genesis that were still alive and not under the protection of the big clans.
He knew for certain they were everywhere, insect could be found everywhere so if they were not there, them something must be wrong, even smaller herbivorous beasts could not be found here so why would he think it was safe? It made no sense.
The mist must also be effecting my mind not just my body. Wait to begin with how would the mist even make me tired, that made no logical sense.
But then again these bloodline abilities has nothing to do with logic but there should still be some sense to it. Think, think Ashborn, I got it.
There was no fatigue here, atleast not of the body, it was completely affecting his mind, making him believe he was tired and running around in circles, but that still did not explain the vines.
If it was an attack there must be a living creature nearby and if it natural then the vines can't be real, so which is it? I guess I just have to test it.
