I leaned against the bleachers, trying to focus on my phone instead of watching Liam's powerful form as he moved across the basketball court. Sweat glistened on his forehead as he practiced three-pointers with laser-like focus. The campus gym was mostly empty this late in the afternoon, with only a few dedicated players scattered around.
"Five more minutes!" I called out, checking the time again.
Liam caught the ball and held it against his hip, flashing me that easy smile that had won over half the girls on campus. "You in a hurry?"
I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "Sort of. I need to get ready."
His smile faltered slightly. "Ready for what?"
I hesitated, knowing what was coming. "Seraphina and I are going to Rhys's birthday party tonight."
The warmth in his eyes cooled immediately. He bounced the ball once, twice, his jaw tightening. "You're going to his party? Seriously?"
