A New Partner and an Alpha's Watchful Gaze

"I swear, Ethan's driving is going to kill us both before we even make it to campus," I muttered, clutching my backpack against my chest as Ethan's sleek sports car swerved into a parking spot.

He killed the engine and shot me a grin. "We're five minutes early. You're welcome."

"We're alive. That's the real miracle." I opened the door and stepped out, smoothing down my jeans.

It felt strange arriving with Ethan—like I was suddenly connected to the Power Gang by proximity. My eyes scanned the parking lot instinctively, searching for Rhys's black Mustang, but it was nowhere in sight.

"Looking for someone?" Ethan's knowing smirk made me want to slap him.

"Just making sure there are no witnesses to report your atrocious driving," I shot back, slinging my backpack over my shoulder.
