I spotted Rowan at his locker the next morning and hurried to catch up with him. After sleeping on it, I felt guilty about my parents' sudden departure affecting our project timeline.
"Hey, Rowan!" I called, adjusting my backpack strap. "Got a minute?"
He turned, his sandy hair falling just above his eyes. "Morning, Elara. What's up?"
"I realized I should apologize about my parents leaving. It might make scheduling our project meetings a bit complicated for the next couple weeks." I shifted my weight nervously. "I just wanted to make sure you're okay with that."
Rowan's expression softened. "Don't worry about it. Family comes first. We've got four weeks for the project, and we can always video chat if needed."
His understanding made me smile. "Thanks. I really appreciate that."
"No problem." He closed his locker. "How's Gamma Alistair doing? Hope everything's okay with his treatment."
