Orion's Grand Gesture and a Risky Invitation

I stood frozen in Orion's arms, trying to process what he'd just told me. Rhys's guards had been spotted in our territory. After four years of careful anonymity, had my past finally caught up with me?

"Wait," I pulled back slightly, looking up at Orion's face. "Did you cut the power to my house?"

A small smile played at the corners of his lips. "I needed to make sure no one saw me enter. I didn't mean to scare you."

"Well, you failed spectacularly at that," I sighed, my racing heart finally beginning to slow. "I thought I was being kidnapped."

"By someone who smells like me?" His eyebrow quirked up, clearly amused now.

I smacked his chest lightly. "I was terrified before I caught your scent!"

Orion's expression sobered as he led me to the couch. We sat down, his large frame dwarfing my smaller one. In the dim light of my living room, his blue eyes seemed to glow slightly, reminding me of his Alpha status.
