I sat rigid in the conference room as tension crackled through the air. Rhys's announcement of his engagement to Faye still echoed in my ears, and the smug look on his face made my stomach churn. His arm was wrapped possessively around Faye's waist, his eyes never leaving my face as if waiting for me to crumble.
Four years hadn't changed his arrogance one bit.
"Before we conclude," Orion spoke, his voice cutting through the awkward silence, "I'd like to remind everyone that we're here to discuss the Inter-Pack Ball, not personal matters."
Faye shifted uncomfortably beside Rhys. "Well, I think everyone should know that—"
"That you're engaged? Yes, congratulations." Orion's tone was glacial. "Though I find the timing rather... convenient."
