Sparks in the Shadows

The tension in Orion's office was thick enough to cut with a knife. Julian Mercer positioned himself strategically between the two Alphas, his body language casual but his stance ready to intervene if necessary.

"Alpha Knight," Julian said firmly, "I believe this meeting has reached its natural conclusion."

Rhys's eyes remained locked on Orion, his jaw clenched so tightly I could almost hear his teeth grinding from where I stood in the hallway, pretending to organize files.

"You think you know her?" Rhys growled, ignoring Julian completely. "You have no idea who she really is."

Orion leaned back in his chair, the picture of relaxed confidence despite the dangerous energy crackling between them. "I know exactly who she is," he replied smoothly. "I know what she likes, what she fears, what she dreams about." His lips curved into a provocative smile. "I know things about her that you never will."
