"Enough!" Elara couldn't bear to listen anymore. "Your Luna's soul is damaged, and your first thought isn't concern, but that she's trying to deceive you. How did I end up with such a dimwit for an alpha son!"
My bestie didn't keep them waiting long, immediately initiating a telepathic communication through her crystal ball.
I instantly dispersed the lunar energy I had gathered, making my soul projection appear even more faint. Then I slightly disheveled my hair to look even more frail.
Kael, sensing the connection was established, started scolding without even looking.
"Carlisle, you're getting bolder and bolder, pulling this sick act..."
Halfway through his sentence, he glanced at the image in the crystal ball and swallowed the rest of his words.
He couldn't help it; I looked utterly weak in the projection.
I let out a few heavy "coughs," then greeted them feebly.
"Kael, what are you talking about? Mother, why are you in his den?"
"You... you really did hurt your soul? Where are you?"
Kael was clearly caught off guard, stumbling over his words.I smiled and said, "I'm recuperating at Granny Wolf's Herbal Cottage. It's nothing, just a minor injury. I'll be fine in a few days."
Elara glared fiercely at Kael, "Carlisle, you really should have told me about such a serious injury to your soul. I would have come to see you!"
I exchanged a few pleasantries with Elara, then asked, "What's going on in the den? Why does the energy feel so chaotic everywhere?"
Of course it was chaotic, they had just been in an intense battle. How could the energy not be a mess?
I had intended to steer the conversation in that direction, but for some reason, Kael chose to cover it up.
"You take good care of yourself. I'll come see you later," he said to me in an almost gentle tone.
I could only laugh coldly to myself.
Sure enough, when none of the other wolves knew he was bullying me, he could do it without any guilty conscience.
But now that everything was out in the open, he had to back down to maintain his alpha facade.
In truth, he had always been an alpha obsessed with saving face. It was because he couldn't bring himself to refuse the Moon Goddess's arranged marriage that he chose me as his Luna, while secretly carrying on with Lyra.
I've finally seen through this man.Having died once before, I no longer harbored even a shred of love for him.
Just as my bestie was about to take the crystal ball and chat with me a bit more, Lyra couldn't hold back any longer.
"Carlisle, how did your soul get injured? Is it serious?"
She swiftly moved closer to greet me, making sure to expose the faint temporary mark Kael had left on her neck.
She thought I would roar in anger, lose my composure, lose my mind.
This way, she could make Kael despise me even more, causing our relationship to deteriorate further.
But in reality, I just smiled and said, "Lyra's here too? How nice. My soul isn't feeling well, so I can't entertain you. Why don't you have your brother keep you company?"
After saying this, I asked her, "What's with the red mark on your neck? Did you get scratched by thorns in the forest?"
