Chapter: Tactical Instinct – Choosing the Right Power
Standing in the shadow of the crumbling hotel lobby, Yu Chen opened the glowing interface of the System Shop, his breath shallow with excitement. The countless rows of skills, abilities, and enhancements were dazzling—names pulsing with mystery, prices shimmering in hues of gold and crimson.
His heart quickened.
> "There are many skills and helping abilities…" Chen whispered. "But my PP isn't high. That's why I can't even afford a single S-rank right now."
His eyes lingered on some of the most tempting abilities:
Orgone Burst (A) – a powerful energy shockwave.
Pheromone Influence (A) – perfect for control or negotiation.
Vital Drain (A+) – ideal for converting enemy power to his own.
Internal Harmony (A) – synergy with his unique body and Parasite skill.
> "These work best with my Parasite ability…" Chen thought, scanning the flickering panels. "But I don't want to risk my partners… I promised I'd protect them. I won't send them out to fight or expose them. Not unless absolutely necessary."
His fingers hovered above the purchase icons.
> "I'm not strong. I never was. I avoid direct battle. What I need is safety—escape—utility."
Then, he made his decision.
> "I'll buy Phantom Dash (A)—it'll help me dodge and escape when things go wrong. And Internal Harmony (A)—it'll boost my PP generation while everyone stays safe inside me. That's enough… for now."
He tapped the two skills.

> [ Congratulations, Host has purchased: ]
[ Internal Harmony (A): Increases PP gain by 50% when partners are inside and stable. ]
[ Phantom Dash (A): Instantly teleport 5 meters in any direction. Cooldown: 10 seconds. Can be chained with Stealth. ]
[ Remaining PP: 8.43 ]
---
Chen exhaled.
"This is the path I chose. Not brute strength—but calculation. Speed. Control."
He looked at the flickering "Unavailable" tags on higher-tier abilities and swore under his breath.
> "One day, I'll get Vital Drain and Orgone Burst. When my PP crosses 1000, I'll make sure I never fall behind again."
Closing the interface, he slipped into the darkness of the hotel's broken rooms, activating Stealth Mode, and curled into the shadowed corner of a mattress-less bed. His breathing slowed as night took over.
