Then a swirling, obsidian portal opened above the camp—and a black envelope with gold demon script floated into his lap.
Nyxa beeped nervously. "That's demon court stationery."
Kai groaned. "Can't I just get fan mail like a normal glitched hero?"
Yui, who was sharpening her blade beside him, looked over and snatched the letter.
She read aloud:

You are hereby invited to the inaugural cross-dimensional event:
The Infernal Romance Trials
Hosted by Demon Queen Lillithra.
Rules: One mortal. Multiple suitors. Elimination-style.
Winner gets a kiss and/or conquest rights.
Also cake.
Sincerely, the Demon Dating Academy Faculty."
Silence.
Then Seraphina said, "She wants to auction you off."
Velmaria snarled, "We're going."
Kai blinked. "Wait—we're going?"
Yui cracked her knuckles. "Oh yes. We're enrolling."
Nyxa projected a hologram of the rules. "Apparently it's open to 'any interested romantic parties.' That includes... goddess harems."
Kai groaned. "So now it's a magical girl battle royale dating sim?"
Nyxa blinked. "Yes. With musical duels."

Twelve hours later, they stood at the gates of Infernal Romance High —a gothic academy floating above a lava ocean, complete with swooning succubi, flaming banners, and sexy violin music playing from nowhere.
Kai adjusted his blazer. "This is ridiculous."
Velmaria smirked. "You look cute."
Kai blushed. "Do all demonic academies have school uniforms?"
Seraphina looked elegant in hers. "Apparently, yes. It's binding by realm law."
Nyxa hovered beside him, dressed like a glitchy librarian. "I hacked the dress code. This is technically rebellion."
Then a sultry voice echoed from the courtyard.
"Well well. My glitched darling did show up."
Lillithra descended from a balcony, wearing a crimson headmistress outfit that somehow managed to be both respectable and soul-corrupting.
She smiled. "And you brought your harem. How quaint."
Yui stepped forward, radiating fury. "Touch him and I'll rip your horns off."
Lillithra winked. "Jealousy is so sexy."
A bell rang.
Succubi swarmed the grounds. The announcer boomed:

Each contestant had to duel a rival for the right to claim a "date" with Kai.
Yui went first—and defeated a 10-foot minotaur love poet by literally slicing his rhyming book in half.
Velmaria punched through a lava elemental with a love poem of her own—delivered via flaming fists.
Iseria took out a seductress with holy light and a speech about emotional maturity.
Even Nyxa somehow bested a tentacle linguist in a "coding flirt-off."
Kai stood at the center of the arena, watching his harem demolish wave after wave of supernatural suitors, while Lillithra looked on from her throne with an amused smirk.

Seraphina sighed. "This place is worse than divine war zones."
Kai nodded. "At least there, no one tried to date you mid-battle."
Suddenly, a massive gong echoed.

The rules: every contestant had to wear a mask and win a dance with Kai.
Yui growled. "I hate masks."
Seraphina adjusted hers. "It's enchanted to hide our auras. The Demon Queen wants him to 'choose with his heart.'"
Kai was led into the grand ballroom. Music played. Succubi swirled. Demons bowed.
He was handed a black rose.
A dance card floated into his hand.
Then came the masked suitors.
First, a tall figure in crimson moved toward him—a perfectly graceful dancer.
Kai squinted. "...Yui?"
The figure spun him too aggressively.
"Yep. That's Yui."
Second came a gentle touch and divine presence. Seraphina.
Then a burning twirl of flame—Velmaria.
Then a cool, sultry voice—Lillithra.
He froze.
Her breath was warm on his neck. "Who will you choose, little glitched boy?"
The music stopped.
Everyone waited.

Kai stepped back.
And bowed to—
"All of you."
He grinned. "I'm not choosing tonight. I'm surviving."
Gasps. Laughter. Hissing.
Yui looked furious.
Lillithra... laughed.
"Clever. But that only buys you time."
She traced a finger along his jaw. "One way or another, Kai... someone will win you."
She vanished into smoke.

Nyxa beeped. "That was just Day One."
He whimpered.
