Andrew froze on the bed.
How could this be,
Wasn't Susan driving right behind him?
How could she have driven into the ocean?
For a moment, Andrew even forgot how to breathe. When he finally spoke, his voice was hoarse: "Then… where is she?"
The person on the other end spoke gravely: "We haven't found Miss Susan in the vehicle. But the search and rescue is ongoing."
Even after the call ended, Andrew was still in a daze.
"What's wrong, Andrew? The wedding's about to start. Go get changed." Rebecca's voice snapped him back to reality. He looked at her, dressed in an exquisite wedding gown, makeup flawless.
But there was no joy in his heart at all. A fog clouded his thoughts. An oppressive weight settled on his heart.
And then, he forced himself to believe it was all a ploy. Rebecca had said it before: That woman is manipulative. She's dangerous. Wasn't it Susan who once drove Rebecca away just to marry him?
Now that he had finally reunited with the woman he loved, he couldn't let himself be thrown off again.
Andrew took a deep breath, then gave Rebecca a soft smile: "Alright. I'll go change now."
Rebecca finally relaxed.
The wedding soon began.
It was broadcast globally, millions of viewers tuned in. The venue was packed to capacity.
Andrew stood on stage, watching Rebecca walk toward him in her white wedding dress.
But he couldn't stop his eyes from drifting toward the crowd. From the beginning of the ceremony until now. Susan never showed up. She must be doing this on purpose. Trying to torment him. Make him care.
Andrew inhaled sharply and turned his full attention to Rebecca as she stepped in front of him.
Little Sam came up, beaming, carrying their rings.
"Congratulations, Dad and Auntie Rebecca! I wish you both a hundred years of happiness. From now on, Auntie Rebecca is my mommy!"
Andrew looked into his son's clear, shining eyes, and something in his heart clenched.
Back when he married Susan. She had looked at him with the same eyes.
Andrew tried to smile, But for some reason, it just wouldn't come.
Even after the ceremony, when he and Rebecca returned to their wedding suite, Susan still hadn't appeared. He called the manager of the four seasons. The manager replied,
"Miss Susan checked out yesterday. The suite's completely empty now."
Andrew's hand hovered over the number that had called him that morning. He was just about to dial when, The bathroom door opened.
"Andrew…" Startled, Andrew lowered his phone. Rebecca stepped out in a semi-sheer silk nightgown, shy and coy. "Andrew, let's have our own baby."
She sat in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Normally, Andrew couldn't resist this side of Rebecca. But tonight, his mind just wouldn't settle. "Let's talk about kids later. We already have Sam, don't we?"
Rebecca's eyes flickered with subtle displeasure, but she said gently, "Don't you want a child that's really ours?"
Andrew frowned. "Didn't you say you'd treat Sam like your own? He really loves you too."
"But!" Before she could finish, Andrew's phone started buzzing again.
He gently pushed her off and picked it up.
Susan was trending again.
Andrew sneered, What is she up to this time?
But the moment he clicked on the top search result, he froze.
