Next to Andrew, Sam's eyes were wide with disbelief, tears streaming down his face in big drops. Andrew's eyes turned icy cold, his face dark as a storm.
The conversation inside the house continued.
Andrew's father-in-law spoke seriously, "Rebecca, before you have your own child, you still need to treat him well. Otherwise, what if he tells Andrew?"
Rebecca's usual gentleness had completely disappeared. She sneered, "I know, Dad, but every time I see that little bastard, I think of Susan!"
"Did you know? Andrew actually said he wanted to bring Susan back to live with us!"
Andrew's mother-in-law complained, "We arranged this marriage between you and Andrew, but you refused because you thought Andrew was sick like dead. That's why we had to have your sister marry him instead."
"If you had really married him back then, once Andrew woke up, you'd probably already be Mrs. Feynman, and Susan wouldn't even be an issue!"
Rebecca quickly clung to her mother's arm and acted spoiled. "Mom, how could you really make me marry a sick person like that? Besides, I was planning to marry my ex boyfriend anyway. That could've helped our family."
Andrew's father-in-law cut her off sharply, "Enough. It's all settled now. Just make sure Andrew doesn't find out about all this."
"No need to check. Doesn't he already know?" A cold voice came from the doorway.
The three people in the living room froze as if someone pressed for a pause, turning to see Andrew holding Sam's hand as they walked in.
Rebecca's face instantly went pale. She reacted quickly, trying to grab Andrew's hand, but he dodged.
"Andrew, let me explain."
"Get lost. You disgust me."
Rebecca's eyes instantly reddened, then she looked at Sam pleadingly. "Sam, don't you love Aunt Rebecca the most? Please believe Aunt Rebecca."
Sam shook her hand off fiercely and shouted, "Go away, bad woman! You're the one who forced my mom away!"
Rebecca's mother hurried out, trying to smooth things over with an awkward smile, "Andrew, we were just joking before, really" But Andrew's expression was icy cold, and the room's temperature seemed to drop sharply. "If it's true or not, I will find out for sure."
Andrew turned toward Rebecca with a cold smile, his voice sharp: "But until then, start preparing the divorce documents."
Rebecca's eyes went wide in shock. "Andrew!"
Andrew had no patience left for any more games with the three of them. Holding Sam's hand, he briskly walked out of the Rebecca's house.
Once in the car, Sam was still crying. Andrew dialed the number from before.
"Hello, has anyone come to claim that car? And, have you found her yet?"
The person on the line replied, "No. It's been a while. Maybe."
"No way!"
Andrew's breath hitched. He slammed the phone down and immediately called his secretary. "Find out where Susan went. Right now!"
Ten minutes later, the secretary called back.
"Mr. Feynman, Susan's phone number has been discarded. We can't track her at all anymore!"
Andrew froze completely. After a long moment, he said in a low voice, "Keep looking. Don't stop."
She really did delete all her accounts.
Could it be, her terminal illness was real?
Andrew immediately drove to the hospital and found Susan's medical records.
Terminal illness, it was true.
Where was she now? Was she still alive?
Andrew walked out of the hospital in a daze.
At that moment, a mechanical voice suddenly sounded in his mind:
[Hello, I am System 007. I can help you see Susan again. Are you willing to pay the price?]
Without hesitation, Andrew replied, "Yes."
