Answer: Because, deep down, that’s the way he learned to survive. Motohama grew up in a family of Japanese exorcists that always treated him like he was disposable. His father abandoned him to start a new family—and took Motohama’s older brother with him. Later, his mother also walked away, leaving him behind. The only real support he had was from his uncle. His relationship with his grandparents? Not terrible, but definitely not warm. And the rest of the family? They act like he doesn’t even exist. To cope with all that, Motohama built this persona of the “loud, sarcastic, perverted idiot with glasses” as an emotional shield. And his friendship with Issei and Matsuda became his one emotional anchor. They were the only ones who accepted him without knowing anything about his family legacy or supernatural background. Even with the memories of his past lives, he’s still himself— Just like Avatar Aang was still Aang, even with Roku’s and all the other Avatars' memories. Motohama can access those memories... but that doesn’t mean he becomes those people. To him, it’s more like watching someone else’s life through their eyes—not actually being them. And honestly, if you’ve been paying attention up to Chapter 6... You’ve probably noticed: Motohama is changing. Slowly, yes... but changing. The perverted idiot is still there on the surface… but underneath that? A very different Motohama is starting to emerge.
