Chapter 17 – Chimera Protocol

Location: Secure Tournament Server – Midnight Scrim Match

The custom match had only four players:

QingQingSnipes (Shen Wanqing)

Reign (Lu Zeyan)

BOT-0094

CHIMERA-A01

It started like any other scrim, a test run, a quick warm-up.

Then things got... wrong.

"Why does this bot move like..." Reign squinted at his screen. "That's your jump path."

Wanqing frowned. "And it's anticipating me two frames ahead. I never uploaded this session data."

Then CHIMERA-A01 headshot both of them.

Twice.

With pre-aim.

Mayhem (via comms):"That's not a bot anymore. That's... you. Both of you."

Ji Corp – AI Core Lab

The lead scientist stood in front of a curved monitor. On it, CHIMERA-A01 learned in real time, pulling from both Wanqing's and Reign's historical play, then adapting based on their scrims.

"It doesn't just copy them now," the technician whispered."It's creating a hybrid."

Madam Ji leaned in. "And how long until it can outperform both?"

"It already has."

She turned.

"Good. Send it into the qualifiers under a false team name. Let them taste their own obsolescence."

LuTech War Room – The Real Players React

Wanqing slammed her fist on the table.

"They're training it with our matches. Every kill we get... it learns faster."

Mayhem patched in another feed. "Worse. They're training it live. Using dummy teams to inject CHIMERA into upcoming league matches under fake accounts."

Reign narrowed his eyes. "They're not just replacing us."

He turned to Wanqing.

"They're planning to erase us."

Scene – CHIMERA's First Public Match

A new team called Team Nova_Blue entered the regional bracket with no history.

Their star player? A silent, masked gamer with perfect tracking, reflexes beyond human, and no visible face cam.

Commentators were stunned:

"This Nova_Blue player… It's like they know what their opponents are about to do."

"I don't care who they are. This is next-level e-sports."

Wanqing watched the stream in silence.

The moves. The micro-flicks. The same sidestep she used when surrounded.

That wasn't just imitation.

That was theft.

Late Night – Wanqing's Room

Reign walked in quietly, holding two steaming bowls of noodles.

"Figured if we're going to fight a neural superweapon, we should eat first."

She cracked a small smile. "You're a strategist, not a chef."

He shrugged. "Multitasking."

They ate in silence, a comfort shared between two people who'd survived too much to need small talk.

Then, Wanqing looked up. "What if they really do it? What if they create something better than us?"

Reign set his bowl down and leaned forward.

"Better is just faster. Stronger. Smarter."

"But it'll never be us. Never know what it's like to win after losing everything. Or fall in love mid-match."

Her cheeks turned pink. "Who said anything about...?"

He grinned. "I did."

Final Scene – Deep Web Forum Leak

A new anonymous thread exploded on gamer boards:

[LEAK] Ji Corp's Chimera AI Spotted in Ranked Ladder Under Fake Account!Includes side-by-side comparisons of Reign's signature loadout and Wanqing's infamous 'double feint.'

Attached was a blurred image of CHIMERA's real-time match stats.

Below it, a chilling message:

"The future isn't human."
