After Yueyue fell asleep, I mustered up the courage to call my father, whom I hadn't contacted in five years.

"Dad, Chen Hao and I are getting divorced! Can you come and take me home?"

I thought my father would scold me for saying that, but his tone was full of tenderness.

"Sweetheart, did that Chen Hao bully you? Where are you? Dad will come to get you right away!"

I gave my father the hospital address and mentioned that Yueyue still needed to stay hospitalized.

My father acted quickly, immediately arranging for Yueyue to be transferred to another hospital, and he rushed to the hospital with my mom late at night.

As soon as he arrived at the hospital, my father went to find the doctors to understand the situation, while my mom pulled me tightly into her arms.

"Sweetheart, don't worry! No matter what happens, mom is here, and mom will have your back!"

The moment mom said this, the facade of strength I had put up instantly shattered.

I buried myself in mom's embrace, crying as I poured out all my grievances.

Mom has a fiery temper; upon learning what happened, she was so angry she almost wanted to kill someone.

"That ingrate! If it weren't for you using your pocket money to support him through school, he wouldn't have been able to attend college!"

"And that garbage company of his—if it weren't for you securing him several major contracts initially, and if your father and I hadn't secretly provided various financial support, it would have collapsed hundreds of times by now!"

"He doesn't show any gratitude, and even dares to bully my daughter and granddaughter like this; does he really think our Yu Family is powerless?"

The more mom spoke, the angrier she became. She immediately called a subordinate, instructing them to withdraw all investments made in Chen Hao's company!

Furthermore, all cooperations that were granted because of the Yu Family's influence were completely stopped.

Having done all these, mom took me along, intending to confront Chen Hao.

Yet, as I reached the door, I hesitated!

Seeing me just standing there, mom thought I was still holding onto Chen Hao, angrily saying, "He's already like this, what are you hesitating for? Do you really want to wait until he harms Yueyue before you give up?"

I held mom's hand, patiently explaining, "Mom, you misunderstood! It's not that I can't let him go, I just don't want any more complications!"

"Chen Hao doesn't know about our family's situation yet, he promised me he'd go to finalize the divorce tomorrow! If we go now, I'm afraid he might change his mind!"

"Please give me a bit more time; once I'm divorced, you can do whatever you want!"

Initially, I hid my family background from Chen Hao mainly not to pressure him.

Another reason is my parents only have one daughter.

There's an old saying, a son-in-law is like half a son!

Without being certain of Chen Hao's character, I couldn't trust him with my parents' empire.

Facts have proven this decision was correct, otherwise, Chen Hao wouldn't have revealed his true colors so soon!

When mom learned my intentions, she tenderly touched my head and said, "Sweetheart, you've endured a lot these past few years..."

Mom's words made my nose tingle with sadness!

Previously, I always believed love to be the most beautiful thing in the world.

It's only now that I understand, compared to familial ties, love is insignificant!
