The Ning Falimy

The Great Oni

Volume (1) Benoni chapter (23)

Li Fan still feels a tug on his heart whenever he thinks about Artha and his children.

For that reason he decided to blur it out and look for a new love, and he quickly latched onto Yue-Yin-A, who was flirting nearby.

Besides, this girl is interesting:

her life-force is worth about 200 years and her physical toughness equals ten grown men.

At first Li Fan did not care, but later, bored, he decided to investigate a little.

The two of them entered a fancy four-star restaurant not far from the plaza.

The place was not enclosed; gardens made it feel secluded and quite beautiful.

The building had four floors; they got a table on the second floor.

Their table was by the window, from which they could see the bustling plaza outside.

Li Fan took one more glance at the giant statue, exhaled, and began ordering food.

Each dish cost about fifty dollars, so Li Fan's eyebrow twitched.

Luckily Yue-Yin-A remembered her boyfriend was only fourteen and ordered just three dishes, then stopped.

Li Fan ordered lightly too and ended with two fruit juices.

"So this is our first date, hee-hee," Yue-Yin-A said, a little shy, smiling.

"Mm, first date," Li Fan nodded.

Suddenly the conversation went silent.

Yue-Yin-A's mind scrambled; she couldn't think what to say.

Li Fan simply smiled and opened:

"Big sister Yue-A, where were you born?"

She lifted her head and answered quickly:

"I'm Asian, but I was born in Europe.

This time I came for Grandpa's birthday and plan to stay this semester."

"I'm Asian too, but born and raised right here in Yan-Kin," Li Fan replied.

After Yeti had changed history, many nations no longer existed;

the whole world is now ruled only by the Aarunyuu Grand-Alliance Government.

People are no longer tangled in many races; mainly four groups remain.

The largest is Asians—about five billion worldwide.

The other three are Europeans, Middle-people, and Americans.

Middle-people refers to the central people—oil tycoons.

Total world population in 2040 is almost nine billion; scholars say it will hit nine flat by 2050.

Li Fan and Yue-A chatted while eating;

they learned more and felt less awkward.

"Wow, so your family is the famous Li Consortium.

Rich kid!" Yue-A teased, smiling slyly.

"Ha-ha, don't start, sis. One of your bracelets could buy this whole restaurant," Li Fan said, glancing at her wristwatch.

"Eh? Didn't expect you to have such sharp eyes," she laughed, polishing the watch.

They talked in that restaurant for about two hours.

Meanwhile, in a huge white room, a young man held a one-meter steel sword, eyes shut.

Invisible energies stirred in the air, gathering into the blade.

"Hoo…" He exhaled, inhaled, gripped the sword firmly, and slashed.

"Heaven-Sky Slash," he spoke with heavy eyes.

"Shiiing—"

A sword-light about twenty meters long shot out and struck the wall.

"Voom."

A groove twenty meters long and one meter deep appeared in the wall.

Behind him, a middle-aged man in sunglasses clapped and praised,

"Congratulations, young master—you've finally reached Stage-3 Martial Spirit.

Truly number one of your generation."

He looked at the youth with respectful eyes.

This young master Ning came from one of the six great families, strongest under the royal line.

At only twenty he had already reached Martial Spirit; other youths stalled at Stage-2 Martial Master.

Thus the aide in dark glasses truly revered him.

The youth sheathed his sword calmly.

"Well, it's nothing. From the Yue family, Yue-Yin-A reached Martial Master at seventeen; she'll hit Spirit soon."

He's handsome, with short black hair and bright brown eyes.

"But even at Spirit she can't match a Spirit's combat power like yours," the aide said gently.

"And news from our watchers: she's dating a fourteen-year-old boy."

"Oh? Really?" The youth raised an eyebrow, stepped closer, and asked,

"Who? Which family?"

His face darkened a little.

He had fancied Yue-Yin-A; past years he sent message, but she refused.

The Yue family is also one of the six; Ning cannot simply force things.

Still, believing himself the most talented of his generation, he assumed she would come around, so in his mind he'd already marked her as his future wife.

"Our check shows it's just an ordinary kid, about fourteen.

His family is rich and influential in the mundane world but irrelevant in martial society," the aide replied.

"Hmph, why would Yue-A date a common boy?"

"Whatever—send someone to warn the brat, scare him off.

If he doesn't back down, wreck his family business and kill him."

The youth gave the order crisply and walked out.

The aide bowed. "Understood, young master. I'll execute immediately."
