"Beedrill? Is this Red's starter Pokémon?"
"Beedrill is a companion I caught when I was seven years old, and it has been with me for three years." After listening to Red's narration, Koga became more vigilant, carefully observing every move of Beedrill. Although his Crobat had an absolute type advantage, Koga still didn't dare to be careless, because Beedrill was Red's starter Pokémon.
"X-Scissor!"
Beedrill launched the first attack. The Crobat below was suddenly attacked. While Janine was still confused about how Beedrill could create duplicates, she realized that Beedrill's original position was just an afterimage left by its incredible speed.
"Absolute attack and absolute speed?!" Koga murmured.
"Crobat, use Air Cutter!"
Sharp wind blades were released from Crobat's wings, rapidly approaching Beedrill's position.
"Use Pin Missile!"
Beedrill crossed its twin stingers, also releasing countless sharp Pin Missiles, which collided with the incoming wind blades, creating an explosion and forming a cloud of mist.
"Now, use Aerial Ace!"
Beedrill's figure blurred again, appearing behind Crobat.
"Quickly use Wing Attack!" Koga said with a hint of urgency.
(I didn't expect my brother to be suppressed…)
Janine's shocked gaze moved back and forth between Red and Beedrill. She vaguely sensed that their expressions were gradually synchronizing, as if Red was Beedrill, and Beedrill was Red.
Before Crobat could react, Beedrill used its speed again to dodge the attack, then followed up with Aerial Ace, hitting Crobat's vital spot. With its Sniper ability, this attack from Beedrill nearly made Crobat unable to retaliate.
"I didn't expect Crobat's proud speed to be suppressed. This aura feels like…"
Although he didn't detect Red releasing any aura, Koga could still vaguely feel a certain pressure suppressing him and his Crobat.
(Is his aura so terrifying that even a slight leak is this potent?!)
Even with a type disadvantage, Beedrill's attacks were still so fierce that Crobat fearfully dodged, not daring to take any hits, afraid of being trapped by Beedrill's Fury Cutter.
"Crobat, use Acrobatics!"
Crobat suddenly scurried around comically, trying to sneak attack Beedrill's weak points. But the cautious Beedrill was not deceived by Crobat's superficial disguise and kept its twin stingers crossed, fully prepared for defense. The anxious Crobat had no choice but to attack proactively, but its wings were blocked by Beedrill's stingers.
"Oh no, Crobat, get away quickly! Don't let Beedrill hit you with its tail stinger!" Koga said anxiously, afraid that Beedrill would use this opportunity to drain Crobat's stamina.
"Don't worry, Mr. Koga. My Beedrill doesn't like using its tail stinger. It prefers the ultimate combat sensation. I hope Crobat's strength can satisfy Beedrill," Red said leisurely, telling Koga not to be so nervous.
"Cough, cough!" Koga couldn't help but cough a few times, feeling awkward for a moment when he noticed Janine's disdainful gaze.
(Isn't my brother's Crobat at the Elite level? How is it still being so thoroughly suppressed by this guy's Beedrill?)
Janine expressed her confusion internally. Even though Crobat had an absolute type advantage, it still couldn't gain any advantage against Beedrill.
"Crobat, use Screech at close range to interfere!"
The piercing noise penetrated Beedrill's ears at close range. The stinging Beedrill used its raw strength to forcefully repel Crobat, then flapped its wings to create distance and used Pin Missile on it. The Pin Missile hit Crobat's body, and the piercing noise was forced to stop.
"Beedrill, use Fury Attack!"
"Crobat, use Wing Attack!"
Beedrill and Crobat simultaneously closed in on each other, constantly attacking with their stingers and wings. A test of strength thus began.
"Crobat, now, use Brave Bird!"
Blue flames covered Crobat's body. The confronting Beedrill also sensed something was wrong.
"Use Giga Impact!"
Air currents condensed in front of Beedrill, confronting the Crobat covered in blue flames.
Compared to Red's calmness, Koga's face showed worry. After seeing Beedrill gradually fall into a disadvantage, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Koga. Beedrill's strength isn't that simple," Red said confidently, also hinting to Koga not to be careless.
The Beedrill, which was being suppressed by Crobat, suddenly erupted with a powerful aura, in turn suppressing Crobat and directly knocking it to the ground. The stinging sensation from landing prevented Crobat from flapping its wings to fly. And Beedrill, due to the side effects of using Giga Impact, temporarily entered a stalemate. Both Pokémon tacitly stayed in place to adjust their status.
A few seconds later, Beedrill was the first to regain mobility, flapping its wings to come in front of Crobat. Crobat twitched its body anxiously, wanting to quickly regain control of its wings, but the lethal twin stingers had already arrived in front of its eyes.
"X-Scissor!"
Beedrill's twin stingers crossed together, using X-Scissor. The suppressive force from the impact caused Crobat to sink into the ground, forming a spiderweb-like deep pit. Crobat trembled, trying to struggle to fly, but suddenly its eyes glazed over, and it collapsed powerlessly.
"Crobat… is unable to battle!" Janine announced the result of the match with a trembling voice, finding it hard to imagine that her proudest brother would actually lose to Red, who had just come to challenge that day. Red was even younger than her, which was the fact Janine found most incomprehensible.
"Phew—" Koga first calmly let out a heavy breath, covering his face and pondering for a moment. "As expected of the expert Lance praised as a future Champion, Mr. Red, I have completely lost to you. It seems my strength still needs improvement."
"Not at all. This is just Beedrill's own effort, and it doesn't have much to do with me," Red said humbly, telling Koga not to doubt his strength too much.
"Originally, I planned to step down as the Fuchsia Gym Leader after some time and hand over the position to my younger sister Janine, but I was still hesitant whether her strength could truly handle the Gym Leader position," Koga slowly said.
"What do you mean, big brother? I'm also working very hard!" Janine said unhappily.
"Now that I've been defeated by you, Mr. Red, I realize how inadequate my own strength is. Even Mr. Giovanni, the strongest Gym Leader in the Kanto Region, hasn't taken on the Elite Four. How can I step down from the Gym Leader position so quickly?" Koga said.
(Giovanni? It's been a long time since the Silph Co. incident…)
Red inexplicably missed his battles with Giovanni, those battles that completely stimulated his neural reactions. Without intending to belittle Koga, as Giovanni's old rival, Red was quite clear about the terrifying strength of Giovanni himself. Currently, no one in the Kanto Region could defeat him.
(But in the future, I will definitely defeat him completely!)
Thinking of this, Red couldn't help but show a fervent fighting spirit, which made Koga in front curious. What kind of person could make such a calm Red show such passionate emotions?
"I plan to resume my training. After this Indigo Plateau Conference ends, I will then consider whether to take on the position of Elite Four in the Johto Region!"
After the match, Red used his Viridian Power to restore Pidgeot's stamina. Noticing Koga's embarrassed gaze, he couldn't help but curve his lips into a smile, then used Viridian Power on Weezing.
'You piece of trash!'
Pidgeot's first reaction upon waking up was to attack Weezing, wishing it could fight for another three hundred rounds. It was so close to winning, but Weezing played a dirty trick, which truly infuriated Pidgeot.
