Just one second

Jimin was still awake. A strange feeling had overwhelmed him, preventing him from falling asleep for nearly two hours. It was almost three in the morning, and he couldn't find a comfortable spot in his own bed. The pillow was hard; it was hot under the blanket and cold without it. He opened the window to breathe in the fresh summer air, but mosquitoes prevented him from enjoying the night sky. When he closed the window, he saw what he had been afraid of all this time.

Taehyung was slowly walking down the road. He was holding someone's purse, having fun, and talking. When Subin's figure appeared from behind the trees, Jim's heart ached. She smiled as Tae made funny faces, laughing loudly and doing movements from "Fire."

She was beautiful in the light of the streetlamps, but not with him. Why did Tae always have the upper hand? How did he deserve this girl's attention? Jim closed the window and covered it tightly with curtains, not wanting even a ray of moonlight to penetrate the room. He sat down on the bed, but his thoughts would not calm down. A few minutes later, the front door opened and closed again quickly. Jimini jumped out of bed and rushed into the hallway. Suddenly, he had a terrible urge to "drink some water" at such a late hour.

"Oh, Jimin! You scared me," he said, grabbing his heart in surprise. "Why aren't you sleeping?"

Why are you only coming home now?" Jimin asked, almost shouting. This woke up the other members, who came out into the hallway.

"What's going on?" asked Joon, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"What's all the noise?" grumbled Hoseok, peeking out with one eye. "Jimin, why are you shouting? It's three in the morning."

The boy protested, pointing at Tae.

"Yaa, Jimin! Come on. That's no reason to yell in the middle of the night," Tae Tae shouted as he put on his slippers. "Besides, I'm an adult now. I can do whatever I want."

"But not when I have a busy schedule."

"Yaah, Jimin~a..." Namjoon interrupted. "Why are you talking to him like that? You've completely lost your mind."

Jimin looked around at the guys silently.

Everyone looked at him in surprise. Not knowing how to act in this awkward moment, he simply turned around and slipped into his room, closing the door behind him.

"What's wrong with him?" Tae asked in surprise.

"I don't know. He's been acting strange lately," Hoseok remarked.

"Ah, let's go to sleep. I'm so tired..." Yoongi said, disappearing behind the door.

"Yes, let's rest. We'll figure everything out tomorrow," Jin said, closing his eyes as he returned to his room.

Silence reigned in the apartment again. Only Jimin couldn't sleep. Hiding under the blanket, he cried into his pillow. A wave of emotions suddenly overwhelmed him, and he found it difficult to control himself. A busy schedule, constant training, vocal lessons, press conferences. He was so tired of it all. Now, Taehyung was taking away his ray of sunshine. This stranger made his heart beat to a new rhythm and made him feel unfamiliar emotions.

The next morning, the guys didn't find Jimin in his room.

Subin had been working as Nam's assistant manager for two months. At first, it was very difficult, but then everything fell into place. InSuk didn't bother Subin with her antics or ask her to get her coffee. She wasn't even around. The manager took Subin on tour with the Bangtans. Subin also wanted to go on tour with the guys and be at the center of events. However, she was stuck with all the paperwork.

She sat in the office day and night, writing reports on all the performances. She could only enjoy photos of the Bangtan members flooding the internet. Taehyung kept sending her new selfies of himself and the other members, as well as short videos from the concerts. He wrote her messages, telling her about each new day and constantly asking her not to be upset over trifles. All of this kept Subin from giving up. She started each new day with sleepy photos of the guys, secretly taken by Taehyung.

It's half past one, and Subin is still in the office. There's no one around, just her and the lonely light of her desk lamp. She's tired, but she finds the strength to write reports.

Jung Hoseok.

Jeon Jungkook.

Park Jimin.

She stopped at his name. She smiled. She reminisced about all the times she had crossed paths with him. When he found her unconscious. When she saw him in a towel. When they walked together under an umbrella. She remembered all his glances when she met him in the hallway of the agency. And then, his look after he arrived. That day, he didn't even look at her. He walked past her, head held high, as if they were strangers. Before, he seemed to be pursuing her. What happened?

She started writing, but her pencil suddenly broke. She grabbed a stationery knife to sharpen it. Because of the thoughts swirling in her head, she didn't notice when she cut her skin with a sharp movement. She froze. The thin blade easily cut through the delicate skin on her index finger, leaving a thin strip behind. Blood gushed out. Subin grabbed some napkins to stop the bleeding, but the cut was too deep. She jumped up and ran to the bathroom.

Jimin was finishing his training. As always, he was the last to return home. While the others were having a quiet dinner, he practiced his moves. He imitated Yoongi because everything had to be perfect, down to the last note and word. The same was true for Jimin. His dance had to be perfect.

Today, he worked late into the night. His legs were giving way, but he kept dancing. He danced as if his life depended on it. Finally, the music stopped. Exhausted, he gathered his things and headed for the exit. Suddenly, he heard the door to the second-floor bathroom slam shut. He ran in that direction.

Behind the door, he could hear water running from the tap and a woman sobbing. The boy didn't want to go in because the sign that said "Women's Restroom" scared all men.

"Park Jimin... You're driving me crazy," said Subin, looking at her reflection in the mirror. The cold water stopped the bleeding slightly, but red drops were still visible. Her finger hurt, but the pain in her heart was worse. At that moment, the door opened. Jimin stood in the doorway looking at Subin. Both froze.

"Oh, you cut yourself," the boy cried out when he saw the blood.

"No, it's okay." She didn't have time to finish her sentence before Jimin grabbed her wrist and pulled her along.

 First floor. First aid room.

Subin had only enough time to read the inscription on the door before the young man led her quickly into the office. He turned on the light and sat her down in a chair. He began searching for a first aid kit or anything else that could stop the bleeding. He found a tube of ointment, bandages, and other supplies. He sat down next to her. Subin silently watched his actions and liked the Jim sitting opposite her. He was so serious and focused. After all, he was saving her life. Even though it was just a cut, it was still her life.

The office was quiet. All you could hear was his breathing and the hum of the lamp. Jimin carefully applies ointment to the wound, spreading it over the entire cut. Then, just as carefully, he sticks a bandage on her finger. "Now she's safe," he thinks, smiling but still not daring to look her in the eyes. Subin, on the other hand, looks at him the whole time, never taking her eyes off him. Until now, she hadn't noticed his true self. It is at moments like this that you can get to know a person best.

"I missed you, Park Jimin! Why aren't you looking at me? Are you afraid... Are you afraid I'll reject you? Never. After all, I care about you," Subin thought to herself. She wanted to tell him all this face to face, but she was afraid he wouldn't understand. Her heart fluttered like a baby bird's, and butterflies had long since taken up residence in her stomach.

"I missed you, Subin-a! I'm afraid to look at you. I'm afraid you'll disappear. But I won't let you go. I won't give you to anyone," he repeated in his head. He was afraid to look up, but he dared anyway. One second... Just one moment, and their eyes met. Their eyes sparkled and their hearts pounded. The room became cramped and stuffy, and only his words could be heard. "Subin-shi, let's date!"

 The world froze.

 Time stood still.

Fate gave them a chance to experience something new.

 Love is a terrible thing.

But it feels so good, especially when it's mutual.
