Rain That Feels Warm

That morning they had breakfast together, enjoying a warm meal while it was raining heavily outside.

Claudia, who had intended to go home that morning, had to delay her return because of the rain. Moreover, it had been raining heavily in their city lately, accompanied by strong winds. People avoid traveling at such times for fear of something happening.

"It's raining heavily outside, I can't go home now because the wind is also strong. I don't want to inconvenience him by driving me home at a time like this. Maybe I should wait until the rain stops," she muttered as she looked out the window.

"Do you have any very important business for today?" asked Davion as he walked up to her.

Claudia shook her head, saying she didn't have any plans for today. So she was in no hurry to return home.

"Good then, I'll drop you off after the rain subsides."

Although they both knew that the rain would definitely last a long time as the sky was very dark. Davion looked at the clothes Claudia was wearing, she was still wearing last night's dress.

He was sure that Claudia would be eager to change her clothes, at least to get clean and wait until the rain stopped.

"I know it's not my place to say this, but do you want to change?" the man asked.

"If you ask me like that, of course I would. But I didn't bring a change of clothes," she replied.

For a moment they were both silent, until Davion suggested he would lend his clothes to Claudia.

"I can lend you a shirt of mine. I don't think my old shirt will be as big as my current clothes. I'll get it from the warehouse, you go take a shower first," he said.

At first Claudia was very hesitant about it. Would Davion's old clothes really fit her?

Because she was very sure that the man's clothes would still be too big for her to wear. But having no other choice, Claudia could only nod her head and then she went to the bathroom to clean herself.

Davion also went to the warehouse to get his old shirts and shorts. He always cleaned all his old things, so the clothes he was going to give her were not dusty at all.

After almost 30 minutes, Claudia came out of the bathroom wearing Davion's clothes.

It looked like it was too big but Claudia managed to use safety pins to make the collar less bulky. She folded both sides and then attached the safety pins. The same went for his pants.

"It turns out you always have a way to improve your appearance. I know you're a very smart and quick-thinking woman," he praised.

"We have to think fast in all situations. And I think this is perfect for that," she replied with a smile.

Seeing her wearing his old clothes there, Davion felt something inside him like he was very happy to see that.

He felt like he was back in his youth, when his former lover borrowed his clothes.

"Somehow whenever I'm with you, I always feel like I'm back in my youth. How you act so cheerful, full of enthusiasm and also that smile of yours makes me happy too," Davion said honestly.

Claudia chuckled when she heard that.

"You still look young to me. You're twenty years older than me, but your face and the way you act, you look like a young person who is..."

She immediately fell silent without being able to continue her words. It was as if Claudia still felt awkward to say that Davion's behavior was like someone who was in love.

She didn't want Davion to think that she was overreacting to the man's attitude towards her.

But what if it wasn't because he was in love?

The man who was flat and notoriously cold, rarely even talking became so talkative and warm towards her.

A much different attitude than usual, and indeed often shown to people who might be considered special by that person.

Since Davion felt that he could not leave Claudia alone at home, he also decided not to go to the company.

"I'll continue my work in my study. If you need anything, you can meet me there," he said and entered his study.

"Alright, good work," said Claudia who watched him enter his study and close the door.

Now she was alone in the living room with nothing to do. She walked around and looked at the picture frame of Davion together with little Yohan.

Yohan was still so innocent and sweet. For a moment Claudia looked at the photo of the man, seeing his cute smile.

"You looked so innocent and cute as a child. But this innocent cutie turned into an ungrateful jerk," she said.

She looked at all the picture frames on the table, ranging from New Year, Christmas and graduation pictures. Davion was always there for Yohan and never seemed to neglect his own son.

"But in the end you were betrayed by your own son. He betrayed us both after we trusted him so much. What a terrible fate," Claudia muttered.

The rumbling outside was quite loud, making Claudia somewhat frightened by the sound. But she couldn't possibly go into Davion's study just to ask him to accompany her.

"I'm a grown woman, I shouldn't be scared just because of a-"

BOOM!

The thunderous explosion followed by lightning made Claudia even more shocked and frightened.

And suddenly the lights in the house went out which made the situation in the house very dark.

"AAHHHH!" She reflexively screamed out of fear. She ran to Davion's study to at least have someone nearby.

"Mr. Davion! Mr. Davion!" she shouted frantically and opened the door without knocking first.

"Ms. Claudia, what's-"

THUD!

This morning's incident repeated itself, Claudia who was too scared accidentally hit Davion so hard that she fell backwards.

Davion landed on his back while whimpering in pain from the hard impact. Luckily, his head didn't hit anything. He also looked above him, the trembling Claudia was lying on top of him while burying her face into Davion's chest.

Seeing that scene, his protective side immediately pushed him to hug her, protecting her from fear.

"Don't be afraid, I'm right here. No one will hurt you or harm you in the dark."
