I watched Kaelen Vance stride away down the hallway, my lips still tingling from his kiss. For a moment, I just stood there, trying to process what had just happened. One second he was holding me like I was his lifeline, and the next he was ordering me to stay away.
The man was infuriating.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed myself off the wall and headed back into our shared living quarters. Four pairs of eyes locked onto me immediately.
"Everything okay?" Rhys asked, concern etched across his face.
"Fine," I lied, avoiding Jaxon's suspicious glare. "Just academy business."
Before anyone could question me further, there was another knock at the door. This time it was Lyra, her pink fingernails tapping rapidly against the doorframe.
"Time for research, cuties!" she chirped. "They're waiting for you in the lab."
"Research?" I asked.
"The bond stuff," Silas clarified. "Remember? Julian and Clara want to monitor our physiological responses when we interact."
