Chapter 86: Job Interview Ruined By Crappy Spirit Of Christmas!

Shinji's POV:

After the trial, the professor disappeared into thin air as the security came to check what had happened. Apparently, the light beams from the professor's gun had gone straight through the walls of the meeting room and attracted a lot of attention. However, even though he wasn't in sight there wasn't a soul who wanted to piss him off amongst the survivors for fear of him suddenly paying them a visit.

That's why they decided not to disqualify us from the tournament. The gang leader had been one of the remaining participants in my division. Since the other participants had already had their matches earlier that day it ended up being a match between the two of us. It wasn't particularly difficult as he was too shaken up from the earlier events and couldn't concentrate on his spells. Hence, most of his spells ended up failing and I won with barely any effort.

"Hey, brat number 2! You want to meet our boss?"

Right after leaving the colosseum to go sightseeing, I ran into the professor's brother, who invited me to meet with his and Mr. Alex's employer. Since I was planning to go with them anyways after this, I thought I might as well look at who I would be working for in the near future.

But on the day of the meeting…

"If that's true then how come your boss is the crappy spirit of Christmas!?"

I was disappointed to find the professor in his Christmas persona, sitting inside the lavish meeting room. Or so I thought.

"HAHAHAHA! Eh! Hey boss! Stop! This is a misunderstanding! Don't kill him!"

Whoever this guy was, he wasn't the professor. He may be crazy and violent, but he has never had that crazed look in his eye, nor the bloodlust. I just brushed it off before as one of those weird moods he would be in every now and then, but after feeling his killing intent up close I was completely certain I had got the wrong guy.

Just as he seemed ready to kill me, he suddenly loosened his grip on my throat as he dropped me to the ground before vanishing.

*Cough* *Cough* *Wheeze*

"And that was why I asked you to let me do the talking!" Mr. Alex said as he approached me.

"Who the hell was that guy?!" I asked.

"Ah! Well, he is-"

"Hey, bratsy number 2! I want to hear what my bro did on Christmas!"

"What? Oh!" Just then, it seemed like Mr. Alex realized who I had mistaken his employer for as he grabbed his head while letting out a nervus smile.

"Could any of you explain what's going on! Who was that guy and why did the boss impersonate him?" I asked in a rush for fear of him returning before I learned just who exactly I just offended.

"Fine! Fine! But only if you tell us what happened after! Deal?"

"Fine! Just hurry before he comes back to finish me off!"

"Nah! Don't worry kid! We just caught him in a bad mood! Given the look on his face when he left, he is either going to return extremely happy or extremely grumpy! Either way, as long as you keep your mouth shut, he would be too caught up in his own thing to bother with you!"

"The guy who just chocked you out is Darky, but most people just call him the Dark Lord! Now hurry and tell me a Christmas story!"

Did this guy just say the Dark Lord! If you asked anyone who the most powerful person on this continent was, then 10 out of 10 people would mention him. He conquered half the continent in under a decade, he is absurdly wealthy, and he is considered to be unrivaled in his realm as the rumor has it, he has bested cultivators from higher stages than his own in single combat.

*boom*

As I could hear a faint explosion in the distance, I told the two the story of how the professor beat up my father and kidnapped me. Afterwards, I decided to return to my apartment to get some sleep before the finals tomorrow, as I didn't want to stick around for the Dark Lord return.
