Chapter 96: Let's split!

Shinji's POV:

"Pity! You could have been a great enchanter!" The sage said through his visor as he turned to leave, only to feel a sudden impact on the neck of his armor.

*Clang*

It was an unbelievable sight. Just as the sage was turning to leave the arena, boss's charred half had teleported right behind him sporting a new arm as it stabbed at the sage with a jagged dark-green dagger. Meanwhile the other half had pulled out his magic gun and pointed it at the two of them.

"WHAT?!"

*BOOM*

*CLANG*

*Sizzle*

Just as the sage swung around to launch another energy blast at the professor's charred half, he was hit by the white beam from the professor's magic gun. The impact pushed him back a few steps as he was suddenly assaulted by the teleporting half again who kept appearing and disappearing around the sage as he tried and failed to pierce the armor.

Every time he tried to hit the dagger wielding half he would teleport away as the one with the gun would fire an attack. While when he tried to attack the one with the gun it would teleport to another part of the arena while the other one would use it as an opening to attack.

"ENOUGH!" The sage yelled as he brandished his battleaxe for the second time.

As he lifted his weapon his armor suddenly lit up in a purple hue that created a translucent dome around us, that caused my protective bubble to pop. As I fell to the floor behind the sage, I could see the two halves of the professor split at the hip as the dome was destroyed.

"Why didn't they dodge?" I muttered in confusion and worry.

"Because he couldn't!" The sage answered without looking away from the still wriggling limbs of the professor.

"The spatial jamming field I emitted interferes with the spatial magic he used to teleport! I don't know what kind of creature you are to survive being quadrisected, but it doesn't matter!" He said as he prepared to launch another energy slash at the professor's remains.

*Bang*

"NO! STOP! UGH!" I tried to interfere as I realized what the sage was doing, but just then another barrier erupted around me, as well as the black-haired guy who suddenly flew into the arena.

The spirit of Christmas! I mean the dark lord had flown out of the emptying spectators' seats and aimed an attack at the sage only to slam face first into a translucent forcefield bubble that was forming around him.
