Shinji's POV:
"Well then, my new baby 'Slowpoke' you better pay attention for I'm about to teach you a valuable lesson in power!" He said as the forcefield shattered around us.
"Your punishment for disrupting Walpurgisnacht and attempted murder of a sage's representative will be death!" The sage said as he wielded a pair of gauntlets.
"For you see my new baby Slowpoke! in this world power is everything!"
*Snap*
And with a snap of his fingers a purple tinted, translucent bubble barrier formed around me as I floated into the air.
*BOOM*
*SIZZLE*
*CRACK*
Just then, the sage swung his gauntlets in a chopping motion, sending out a giant energy slash towards the professor. The energy blast enveloped the professor before continuing forwards, leaving nothing but a dust cloud behind as it collided with the arena forcefield, sending cracks across its surface.
"BOOOOSSSSS!" I screamed out in fear as I watched him get obliterated by the energy blast.
"Hmph! That's what he gets for protecting a *squelch*"
While the elf representative was gloating, something came flying out of the smoke from the sage's attack. Before anyone could react, it had ripped off the elf's head causing his neck to spurt out blood like a water fountain.
"I said I would kill you! Too bad those oversized ears are just for show!"
It was the professor. He had survived the attack, though he did not come out unscathed. The entire left side of his body had been burned to a crisp. He was currently holding up the elf's severed head with his charred hand as he stared directly into its eyes.
*Smash*
Right as the brown-haired mage seemed to be preparing an attack spell, the professor crushed the elf's skull using nothing but his bare hand as he grasped the brown bead inside it. He then turned to glare at the man, releasing a terrifying pressure that exceeded even the sage's. After feeling the deathly presence of my new master, the arcane representative's decision went from fight to flight as he quickly used a spatial artifact to escape the arena.
*BOOM*
*SIZZLE*
*CRACK*
Just then the sage swung his hands again, releasing a horizontal energy slash from his hand, hitting the boss dead on. Out of the smoke the professor's voice could be heard, as several figures could be seen walking out of the dust cloud.
"You know you are my favorite! Out of the three of you I mean! It's a shame, but I'm going to have you be my steppingstone!"
Just then the group of figures stepped out of the smokescreen to reveal.
"Huh! Boss?" I said in confusion.
The people who stepped out were a gang made up of professor lookalikes. Each one mangled and bloodied in different ways. One was missing a leg, while another was missing an arm. There was even one who had lost the lower half of his body.
"You think I can't see through your tricks? I am the sage of runes Olaf Glad-!"
*Swoosh*
*Bang*
*Splatter*
Interrupting the sage, one of the professors lunged at him at an incredible speed as he splattered onto the sages invisible forcefield. Instead of blood and guts, his insides which were currently splattered across the sage's forcefield were made from mud.
"These weak golems, although impressively lifelike are incapable of even harming me!" The sage said, while another one came splattering onto his forcefield.
*BOOM*
*SIZZLE*
*CRACK*
After the second golem splattered on to him, he sent another energy slash that evaporated the mud of the forcefield. However, right after the sage launched his attack, the professor appeared behind with his scorched hand raised in the air while glowing in multiple different enchantments.
*BOOM*
*SIZZLE*
*CRACK*
The professor had just launched an energy slash of his own that looked eerily similar to the sage's. The attack seemed to crack the sage's forcefield after it took a point-blank hit. Soon after, a pair of golden boots matching the gauntlets appeared around the rune sage's feet, before he quickly jumped back at a near supersonic speed, giving him some distance.
"I see! You are brilliant! You used the mud-golems as cover to obstruct my view while you prepared for your attack! And you even managed to recreate my gauntlets effect in such a short time using your bare hands! Your talents and combat prowess have earned my respects, but it came at a price!" The sage said as he pointed at the smoke over the professor's arm or what was left of it anyways.
The professor had used body enchantments to copy the sage's energy slash, but it seemed like it was too much for his body as it had burned off his left hand in the process.
"Tell me your name young sir!"
"You can just call me Mr. Sun!" the professor said.
"Well, then Sir. Sun! Would you be interested in becoming my disciple? I can promise you and that boy's safety should you accept!"
Did he just say that? The sages are the number one mages under the heavens, and one of them just offered to take the professor in as a disciple. It's an honor every mage in the world would kill for, plus it would fix all our problems. Even if the other sages complained they wouldn't be able to take any direct actions against us due to their alliance, and my family wouldn't dare offend someone backed by a sage.
"No thanks! I'm good!" My mad professor replied as he destroyed our best way out of this mess.
"Huh? What did you say?"
"I said I'm not selling my freedom to some stuffy old fart in fancy gear!"
"Such hubris! It's such a shame! To lose a talent such as yourself!"
"You talk too much!" The professor said, while another one of him appeared from out of the debris as it charged at the sage.
"A golem! Didn't I tell you they can't!"
*BOOM*
*Smash*
Just then, instead of splattering against the forcefield like the others, this one lit up in red and green enchantments as it erupted in a massive explosion. The sounds of the sages forcefield could be heard shattering through the smoke that covered a third of the arena.
*Swish*
*CRACK*
*SMASH*
Not long after the explosion, the smokescreen was cut open to reveal a full set of enchanted golden armor that covered everything but the sage's beard. He was holding the enchanted golden battleaxe he had just swung down, which had split the ground in the professor's direction. The line in the ground stretched across the arena floor past the professor and out of the colosseum. There was an eerie silence in the colosseum that was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the shattering forcefield of the arena as the professor and anyone else standing over the line in the ground were split in half.
"Pity! You could have been a great enchanter!"
