They were told to go outside – the front yard this time, which was much cleaner compared to the back – and wait.
Oakley was anxious. This was it. Although, there was a possibility that she wouldn't be picked as she hasn't been trained yet – which was a mandatory thing to do to new slaves according to Everleigh.
Everleigh.
She wondered. If she was picked for the auction and was sold off, would she ever see her again? Despite the little time they had spent talking, she felt close to the woman. She was like a sister she never had.
How she wished that Everleigh would be selected for the auction, but from the conversation they had before, she didn't think it was possible. The slave establishment would not want to take another risk of sending a slave that could possibly escape for a second time.
But that was what she planned on doing. Escaping. She wasn't born to be a slave to her fellow human. She had every right to be free and enjoy life as well. Maybe get married to a nice man who would love her dearly, have kids, and live in a house big enough to fit them and be comfortable.
Was that too much to ask for? Why did life have to do her like this? Why did her mom have to betray her?
She felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Everleigh.
"Are you okay? You're crying." Everleigh asked, concerned.
She was?
Oakley touched her cheek. She was crying. She quickly wiped away the tears.
"I'm fine." Oakley responded, forcing a small smile. "Nothing to be worried about."
Everleigh nodded, dropping the topic. There was no need to force her to speak if she didn't want to.
....
A lean man pointed at another slave, and a guard proceeded to push her out. It was Nicholas.
His eyes landed on the girl that was just recently brought in. Oakley Perez. She was definitely a sight to behold.
Long brown hair that still looked silky and soft despite the lack of proper care, long dark lashes that protected her enchanting hazel brown eyes like a canopy, and full heart shaped lips which looked noticeably soft despite the distance between the two of them.
If he had seen her sooner, he would have ravished her to his satisfaction before she was sold off. But sadly, it was too late for him.
Oakley noticed the gaze of the lean man who seemed to be in charge. Did that mean he was going to select her? Or had she done something wrong and was now in trouble?
He pointed at her. A guard approached her and pushed her forward. She had been selected.
'This is too soon.' She thought to herself as she started to panic. She looked back at Everleigh who gave her a look of assurance.
But was everything really going to be okay?
"Move it." The guard pushed her again. She almost lost her footing but quickly balanced herself.
Oakley – as well as the other selected slaves – were led into a van. The same van that brought her here – before they were blindfolded.
Their hands and legs were chained. Despite being blindfolded, they all knew where they were being taken to; the black market. A place that was yet to be discovered by the government – or maybe it was but they were turning a blind eye to it – and only a certain number of people knew about its location.
Oakley felt her hands go cold. Maybe it was due to blood circulation being cut off from her hands because of how tight the chains were. Or maybe it was because she was extremely scared. Either ways there was nothing much she could do about her situation right now. She just had to be patient.

"Sir, the girl is currently being taken to the black market."
The man hummed in response, placing his cup of coffee on the table. "Make sure no one else buys her."
"Yes, Sir."
The call was disconnected after the blonde's response.

Oakley was going to be the last slave to be auctioned off. The blindfold had been taken off and she had witnessed the other slaves being sold off to men and women alike. It was a horrific scene to witness. The auctioneer had even taken off the clothes of the slaves on stage to 'show off the goods' as he had said.
When it was finally her turn, she was pushed onto the center of the stage where the auctioneer was waiting.
Her whole being went numb. So many people were staring at her as if they were ready to pounce and eat her alive.
"I can see that this one has gotten you all excited." The auctioneer started with a smile on his face.
"Doesn't she look stunning. So tempting." He paused as he ran his fingers through her hair.
He tugged on it. Hard, causing her to yelp in pain.
"Wouldn't you like to hear something as pleasing as the sound she makes while you ravish her wholly in bed?"
Oakley cringed internally. Her lips trembled as tears threatened to spill out from her eyes but she held it, not wanting to cry in front of these people.
"Let me show you a little more..." The auctioneer said as he reached out to take off her dress.
"Ten thousand!" Someone suddenly yelled from the crowd, pausing the auctioneer's movement.
And just like that, the auction started.
The price kept on going up, and now they were currently at ninety thousand. The number of people bidding slowly reduced as not many people could afford to go any higher.
"One hundred and fifty thousand!" A man yelled.
The auctioneer smirked. "A hundred and fifty, going once... Going twice... So-"
"Five hundred thousand." A voice suddenly spoke up.
Pin drop silence.
Who would spend such amount of money on a mere slave. That was half a million! Even Oakley was shocked.
She looked at the man. His face was covered with a nose mask and the only thing visible was his brown eyes, and shiny blonde hair.
"That's a lot of money." Said someone from amongst the crowd.
"Five hundred thousand, going once... Going twice.... Sold!"
