Chapter 5

Once the door was closed, the atmosphere in the study lightened considerably.

My father let out a deep sigh. "I never imagined Lucian could be such a person."

"People always wear masks, Dad," I said. "It's a good thing I saw the truth in time."

Liam came to my side, his hand gently taking mine. "You were incredible just now. So calm, resolute, and completely in command."

I looked up at him, a powerful wave of emotion suddenly washing over me. This man, he had never tried to control or exploit me; instead, he admired my strength and respected my decisions.

"Thank you for coming back, Liam," I whispered.

He leaned down, his voice a soft murmur in my ear, "My heart never left, Elara."

Father cleared his throat, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "I suppose I should give you two some privacy. Liam, please stay for dinner."
