Chapter 6

In the following weeks, our relationship heated up quickly. Every night, Liam would rush over after finishing work at the company, sometimes with takeout, sometimes cooking himself. We would share red wine and stories of our pasts in front of the fireplace, filling in the blanks of these years.

"Why did you never tell me how you felt?" I asked one evening, nestled in his arms.

"Because I saw how much you loved Lucian. After you two started dating, I knew I should leave, that I couldn't ruin your happiness."

"And now?"

He cupped my face, "Now, I won't let you out of my sight again. I wasted too much time, and I won't make the same mistake."

Meanwhile, when my father learned of Lucian's betrayal, he was furious. He not only immediately withdrew financial support for Thorne Group, but also joined forces with his business allies to launch a strategic offensive against Thorne Group.

"No one treats my daughter like that," my father said firmly at dinner,"They will pay for this."
