Chapter 9

"No! This is all because of you! Because you rejected me! Because you chose him!" He pointed at Liam, his eyes filled with bitter resentment.

"Now, you must pay the price."

He quickly pulled an object from his jacket. The crowd present immediately panicked; some screamed, others ducked for cover. But to everyone's surprise, what he pulled out wasn't a gun, but a bottle of liquor.

"Look what I've become," he said, shaking the bottle, his voice laced with self-mockery. "The once-glorious heir to the Thorne family, now I'm just a drunkard, a joke."

He took a staggering step, swaying unsteadily towards me. Liam instantly moved to shield me, but I gently pushed him aside and walked towards Lucian.

"I once loved you, Lucian," I said, my voice soft yet firm. "I gave you my everything. But you chose betrayal, you chose deceit. I didn't ruin you; you ruined yourself."
