Chapter 51: Whispers of Origin

The air atop Qingye Sect's mountain peaks had grown colder. A heavy mist rolled in from the ocean, hanging low over the trees like a warning.

In the main hall of Elder Council, Luo Sen stood before a round table lit by hovering crystals. Seated around him were four other inner elders — each a master of their own peak, their auras cloaked, their expressions unreadable.

> "He saw the seal," Luo Sen said.

The others exchanged glances. One elder with a silver beard and firemark eyes muttered, "We sealed that place over four hundred years ago. Who led him there?"

> "The Deep One," Luo Sen replied. "A remnant soul. Possibly bound to the ruins."

The hall went silent. Then Elder Qiu finally spoke.

> "If that seal breaks…"

> "It won't," Luo Sen said calmly. "Not yet."

Lin Ho's Courtyard

The stars above Qingye were half-hidden behind drifting clouds. Lin Ho sat cross-legged on a stone platform, eyes shut, drawing in faint streams of ambient Qi. Beneath his skin, his meridians shimmered faintly. Each breath he took pulled in not just Qi — but the echoes of Chaos.

He wasn't trying to awaken the thing beneath the ocean.

But it had already recognized him.

A low hum resonated through his dantian, like an old voice calling from a long sleep. Come home… come home…

> "No," Lin Ho whispered. "I am already home."

The Chaos spiral within him pulsed once, then quieted.

Footsteps approached.

It was Bai Qing, carrying a pouch and a scroll.

> "You're getting summoned again," she said, tossing the scroll lightly. "Elder Qiu wants to see you tomorrow. Private mission."

> "Alone?"

> "No. With me. And two others. Looks like they're testing trust now."

She hesitated, then sat beside him.

> "That seal… you felt it, didn't you?"

Lin Ho opened his eyes slowly.

> "I felt… recognition. Like I've touched it before, in another life."

Bai Qing stared at him, wind catching strands of her dark hair.

> "You know you're not like the rest of us, right?"

> "I didn't choose this," he replied. "But I won't run from it."

She stood and gave a small nod.

> "Good. Then don't die tomorrow."

The Next Day – Inner Sect Docks

A sleek spiritual boat waited at the edge of the water, bound by glowing chains. Two other disciples were already aboard — both unknown to Lin Ho, but their presence was steady.

As he stepped on board, Bai Qing smirked.

> "Ready to play hero again?"

> "No," Lin Ho said, eyes focused on the sea. "Just ready to learn what else they've buried."

The boat began to rise, propelled by runes. Far below, the waters of the Eastern Trench shimmered — quiet, but never still.
